With Microsoft Rewards, you can get access to a huge range of gift cards, prize draw sweepstakes, and even charity donations. All for simply browsing the internet, playing games, purchasing games on your XBOX console, or even renting your favourite film.
If you don’t utilise Microsoft Rewards you truly are missing out. Thankfully, we’ve put together this huge guide about this reward scheme, including what it is, how to earn points, and what you can spend those points on.
What is Microsoft Rewards?
Microsoft Rewards, otherwise known as Bing Rewards or Rewards with XBOX, gives users reward points for using and engaging with Microsoft’s services. This ranges from searching, browsing, and gaming, to shopping via Bing, XBOX, or Microsoft Edge.
You can then later redeem your points against a huge variety of rewards including gift cards, sweepstakes, and charity donations.
How Do I Sign Up to Microsoft Rewards
If you have a Microsoft account, then you are all ready to start utilising Microsoft Rewards. Simply head over to visit https://www.microsoft.com/rewards, sign in, or open the Rewards app on your XBOX to start earning your points.
How Do I Earn Microsoft Rewards Points?
There are four main ways in which you can earn Microsoft points:
- Searching via Bing
- Browsing via Microsoft Edge
- Earning via XBOX
- Shopping via the Microsoft Store
You can earn various points for completing each of these activities depending on your Rewards level. There are three different tiers to this:
- Level 1 – the base level everyone will start on.
- Level 2 – achieved when you earn at least 500 points per month.
- Level 3 – achieved when you earn 500 points per month and have an XBOX Game Pass subscription.
We’ve included this handy table below to highlight what each tier can earn.
Level | 1 | 2 | 3 |
---|---|---|---|
Search via Bing (PC) | 3 points per search (Max 30 points per day) | 3 points per search (Max 90 points per day) | 3 points per search (Max 90 points per day) |
Search via Bing (Mobile) | – | 3 points per search (Max 60 points per day) | – |
Search with Bing (via Microsoft Edge) | 3 points per search (Max 3 points per day) | 3 points per search (Max 12 points per day) | 3 points per search (Max 12 points per day) |
Shop Online (via Microsoft Store) | 1 point per £1 spent | 10 points per £1 spent | 20 points per £1 spent |
Searching via Bing
You can earn points when you complete searches on Bing using your PC or mobile, via any browser, or using the Windows search bar. There is a separate cap for searches done via desktop, mobile, or Microsoft Edge.
Daily Sets
You have three ‘dailies’ to complete which will either award you points when clicked on or take you to a predefined search. You’ll either see a quiz or poll that you’ll need to fill in. Once you’ve completed all three ‘dailies’, your streak count will increase. You can earn up to 45 points for every three days, up to 54 days. Once you’ve achieved this, it then increases to 150 points for every 10 days.
Daily Streaks
Currently, still in Beta testing, you can earn points by completing three searches with Bing every day for 10 days. After this, you’ll earn a ‘jigsaw piece. With 12 jigsaw pieces, you can earn 1000 bonus points.
Monthly Set/Quest
At the start of each month, you’ll receive a new monthly card in the rewards app. This card will consist of four to five different activities, ranging from predefined searches to quizzes. Once you’ve completed the monthly set, you’ll be awarded a bonus.
More Activities
Plenty of opportunities will pop up every day to allow you to earn even more points. These activities will appear just below the daily set section. Your activities will refresh each day for additional points and feature a similar mechanic to that of the daily set tasks but don’t contribute to your streak.
Searching via Microsoft Edge
Interestingly, you can also earn points through searching via Microsoft Edge on both PC and mobile. Plus, you can get cashback on purchases made with qualifying retailers on Microsoft Edge!
Earning via XBOX
You can earn Microsoft Rewards via your XBOX. Simply play games and complete actions listed in the app, as well as via the XBOX app for both Windows and mobile.
As of April 16th 2024, you can no longer complete weekly sets and weekly streaks on XBOX. Instead, there is a dedicated Rewards hub which you can find on the profile page. In the Rewards hub, you can earn points through:
- Playing games
- Weekly Console Bonus
Play and Earn
Complete daily tasks to earn points. Your daily tasks will reset each day allowing you to consistently earn more points every day. The tasks include:

- Use the XBOX app
- Play a PC game
- Play a game on Console
Weekly Console Bonus
Playing a game each day for 5 days between Tuesday and Monday can earn you 25 points. What’s more, you can earn an additional 25 points if you are a Game Pass Ultimate subscriber!

Your Offers
Similarly, to Bing activities, you’ll see daily activities appear in the app on console. These activities will refresh each day allowing you to earn extra points. However, this won’t contribute to your weekly streak or set tasks.
Shopping via the Microsoft Store
You can also earn points when you shop for tech through the Microsoft Store. This includes consoles, PC hardware, tablets, and peripherals, along with digital purchases such as games or films.

How to Avoid Having Your Microsoft Rewards Account Suspended or Points Removed?
When trying to redeem your rewards points against offers, you might encounter an error ‘Microsoft Rewards account temporarily restricted’ or ‘There’s an issue with your account or order’. This can be because Microsoft has placed a temporary hold on your account to validate any redemptions, ensure the account is secure and legitimate, along with protection from any potential fraud. This ‘ban’ will usually be lifted within 24 hours, or you can contact Microsoft Rewards support via the ‘Contact Us’ link found on the website.
There are a few ways in which you can avoid having your account suspended, banned, or points removed. The most important one of which is to follow the Microsoft Rewards terms of service and best practices.
Here are a few other ways you can avoid having your account suspended;
- Only earn and redeem points in the country you live in.
- Do not use a VPN.
- Do not use any bots/scripts/browser extensions to earn points.
- Do not ‘bloat search’. For example, make searches using repeated characters or repeating searches with one character missing.
- Review or update your account address to ensure it reflects the country you live in.
- Add a phone number to your account for additional security.
By following these rules, you will ensure that your account remains in good standing, allowing you to redeem your hard earned points once you are ready to.
