Last night, AMD’s CEO Dr. Lisa Su took to the stage to reveal the latest generation of AMD architecture and graphics cards – AMD RDNA 3. During the announcement, two graphics cards in the AMD RX 7000 Series were revealed: the RX 7900 XT and the RX 7900 XTX.
AMD RDNA 3 Architecture:
Touted as the future of gaming, AMD RDNA 3 architecture aims to enhance your gaming experience, allowing you to sit back and enjoy high resolutions, smooth frame rates, and stunning photo-realistic visuals, even at 4K and 8K. This cutting-edge architecture features the world’s first gaming chiplet GPU.
The ground-breaking chiplet design has been built with a combination of a 5nm Graphics Compute Die and a 6nm Memory Compute Die to deliver high performance with better efficiency per watt compared to previous generations. In fact, thanks to the 58 billion transistors, AMD RDNA 3 packs in 54% more transistors than RDNA 2, resulting in a 54% boost in performance-per-watt and 61 TFLOPS.
Contained with the 6nm Memory Compute Die is up to 96MB of AMD’s very own 2nd gen Infinity Cache and powerful GDDR6 video memory. With up to 5.3TB/s, unlock 2.7x times faster speeds for a streamlined blisteringly-fast performance in both gaming and content creation.
Accelerate Your Performance:
AMD RDNA 3 features a blend of cutting-edge intelligent AI accelerators along with 2nd gen Ray Tracing accelerators to deliver stunning visuals and hyper-realistic lighting and shadows in all your favourite AAA titles. You can sit back and enjoy up to 50% more Ray Tracing performance, reaching up to 1.6x more FPS in games such as Doom Eternal.
What’s more, AMD RDNA 3 supports AMD FSR 2.0, and FSR 3.0, which AMD revealed to be coming in 2023. This is set to unlock 2x times more FPS compared to the current 2.0 generation. Along with, the brand-new Hypr-RX. Set to be released in 2023, this technology has been fine-tuned to improve FPS whilst lowing latency for buttery-smooth performance.
AMD Radiance Display Engine:
In addition to all of this, AMD RDNA 3 includes its own intelligent AMD Radiance Display Engine. Utilising DisplayPort 2.1, with up to 54gbps and 12-bit per channel colour, you can unlock stunning colour accuracy for more realistic visuals with up to 68 billion colours.
AMD RX 7000 Series Graphics Cards:
During the live stream, along with AMD RDNA 3, two brand-new graphics cards in the RX 7000 Series were revealed.
- RX 7900 XT
- RX 7900 XTX
Both of these graphics’ cards have been built utilising AMD RDNA 3 architecture, have up to 24GB of GDDR6 video memory, and include a whole suite of cutting-edge features designed to enhance your gaming experience. This includes AMD FSR, AMD Radiance Display Engine, and so much more.
The AMD RX 7900 XTX is set to be the flagship GPU of the RX 7000 Series and boasts 96 compute units and Ray Tracing accelerators, along with a game clock of up to 2.3GHz for a 1.7 increase in performance compared to the flagship GPU of the RX 6000 Series.
You can see a full breakdown of the specification of these two graphics cards in the table below.
