The rumour mill is turning again, and it’s speculated that the AMD Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs will have the same spec as current 7000X3D processors!
You’re probably thinking, “what-the-what now?” But we’re here to diffuse any panic that this rumour could be causing.
The Elephant in the Room
The rumour is that the upcoming AMD Ryzen 9000 Series X3D models will sport the same specs as the current 7000X3D CPUs. This would mean the same model structure, core and thread count, as well as total 3D V-Cache. As such, we can expect to see a Ryzen 7 9800X3D with 8 cores and 104MB total cache, a Ryzen 9 9900X3D with 12 cores and 140MB total cache, and a Ryzen 9 9950X3D with 16 cores and 144MB total cache.
If the rumours are true.
But It’s Not As Bad As You Think
While the same specs may feel like an anti-climax, this won’t mean there are no generational improvements. The AMD Ryzen 9000 Series CPUs are of course going to be faster, better, and more powerful because they’ll be built on improved processes. For starters, Zen 5 architecture will feature innovations to provide an uptick in performance on Zen 4.
AMD exec Donny Woligroski has said that the AMD 9000X3D CPUs will have some “cool updates” and that AMD is working on “iterating and not just rehashing”. This could potentially include capacity to overclock and even manually configure the X3Ds.
To say the least, we are excitedly waiting for the official announcements from AMD!

Need an Upgrade Now?
There are no firm dates for the AMD Ryzen 9000X3D release yet – though, rumours are rife that it’ll be September. If you can’t wait that long for an upgrade, then the AMD Ryzen 7000 and 8000 Series CPUs are just waiting for you! Currently, there are no 8000X3D models, but they do feature impressive integrated graphics if that’s your style. Ryzen 7000 Series, on the other hand, has a full selection of standard, X, and X3D models to peruse!
