Whilst our minds may be packed full of thoughts of pancakes and our chosen toppings, it’s also time for you to start thinking about what you will be giving up for Lent this year. Lasting for 40 days, Lent is a period of self-reflection during which people will fast.

Your fast doesn’t have to mean you lock away all your favourite foods for six weeks, you could also opt to give up something – whether is a physical thing or that pesky habit you’ve been itching to ditch for weeks.

If you are planning on giving up one of your bad habits, we’ve put together this list of our top bad gaming habits to spark your inspiration.

Is There Such a Thing as Too Many Energy Drinks?

We all want to achieve the ultimate gamer aesthetic with our flashing RGB lights, clicky keyboards, and, of course, the must-have energy drinks.

However, the popular energy drinks available are packed full of sugar and don’t include any essential vitamins or minerals. Whilst they may give you that extra boost of energy in the short term, you may find yourself later crashing and lacking any uplift in your energy levels, which we all know is a must for those crucial boss battles.

If you are trying to cut down on your energy drink consumption, you don’t have to jeopardise your true gamer aesthetic in the process. In fact, you can opt for a stylish X-Gamer 500ml Shaker along with your preferred powder, such as the super tasty Zomberry or Dr Beast!

X-Gamer X-MIX5 5.0 Glacial 500ml Shaker:

The X-Gamer Glacial 500ml Shaker is the perfect addition to any gaming set up. Constructed from high-quality plastic with a sturdy open/close lid, this shaker is complete with the stylish X-Gamer logo and stunning blue and ice white design.

Controller vs Keyboard:

We’ve all opted for a game controller over a keyboard at some point…

I know I’m definitely guilty of choosing my controller over my keyboard. I’d rather sit back in my chair, go full shrimp mode, and enjoy some high-speed farming in Stardew Valley. That is until I get annoyed in the Skull Caverns by accidentally placing two staircases instead of one. That damn controller, staircases are a precious commodity!

A gaming keyboard provides you with enhanced control and precision over your critical boss hits. If you have a mechanical keyboard with hot-swappable key switches, you can optimise your gaming even further by tailoring your WASD or arrow keys with ultra-fast switches, such as Cherry MX Speed Silver. Furthermore, whilst controllers are handy for those with small spaces, there are multiple different sizes of keyboards available, designed to suit every kind of set up. This can either be a traditional full-sized variant or the ultra-small 40% form factor.

What’s more, if you prefer your controller since it is wireless and you don’t want any additional wires cluttering up your desk, there are in fact wireless keyboards available. You can reap all of the benefits of a mechanical keyboard, without being tethered by wires.

Let’s Talk Smack & Rage Quitting:

In the heat of the moment, we’ve all gotten a little too angry and either talked smack at our fellow teammates online or completely rage quit and gone for a much-needed lie down. Gaming is a way of escapism, a medium that allows you to get away from life stresses and challenges by embarking on an adventure or engaging in fast-paced action.

Therefore, instead of taking our anger and stresses out on our fellow teammates, take a few moments, maybe a break to make a quick cuppa before getting back into it. Plus, you can also utilise any frustration you feel and channel it into your gameplay. This is sure to prove advantageous against those pesky boss battles or online players.

Lastly, if this doesn’t work, maybe it’s time to turn off your computer, head off to bed or find your beloved pet for some much-needed therapy.

Take a Break from Gaming:

As much as we want to strive for perfection, beating every boss, or becoming the number one player – it’s not always the greatest idea to spend every waking moment gaming, as much as we may want too.

Whilst gaming is a fantastic hobby that allows you to learn and improve new skills, destress, and make friends, you might want to consider actually spending time with said friends or family. You can take a break from gaming and opt to venture outdoors with friends, go out for a meal, or simply sit on the sofa with family watching films.

It’s probably time you take your headset off, close Steam or EPIC games, turn off your gaming PC, and go spend some time with those closest to you.
