The Gameplay
In a dystopian future, conflict and extreme weather have tipped the scale of power. Chaos is brewing. The USA and Russia are now at the brink of war. Both sides have enlisted No-Pat Task Forces to engage in a proxy war for them over resources. The No-Pats have no choice but to choose their side.
That is where you come in.
What game modes are included in Battlefield 2042?
Packed with so many different gameplay modes – there is plenty of intense warfare for you and your squad to engage in.
Conquest
The hugely successful Conquest returns. Now with a spectacular upgrade, this sandbox mode can support up to 128 players (XBOX Series X/S, PS5, PC). There has been a shift away from individual control points towards the target being an intense game of capture the flag. To handle this huge player base, the maps have been re-designed so the fight is now split into individual ‘clusters’. Battle it out, secure your flag, and conquer the map.
Breakthrough
Attackers vs Defenders are back in Breakthrough! Attackers advance towards your final objective whilst the defenders do all that they can to stop you. Split into large scale sectors, each area has been re-designed for the 128-player count. This means, your squad can now take advantage of better strategic and flanking opportunities. Choose to attack from the skies or stay close to the ground – whatever it takes to be victorious.
Battlefield Hazard Zone
Perfect for those looking to join up and battle it out together.
Select your four-member squad from the team of Specialists, that have been based on classic Battlefield classes. These characters all have one unique speciality and trait – select the individuals that will give you and your squad the upper hand in battle. Your mission is to locate and retrieve data drives that have been scattered around the battlefield. All whilst fighting occupying forces and rival squads with the same objective. Your success depends on finding the data drives across all seven maps and getting out of there before the storm hits.
Battlefield Portal
Battlefield Portal is a platform for you to experience your favourite moments from the Battlefield franchise. From Battlefield 1942 to 2024, this sandbox mode will allow you to change the rules of war. Utilise custom-made modes or even create your own using the comprehensive build tools. Anything can happen in Battlefield Portal.
Is Battlefield 2042 a PC Exclusive?
Battlefield 2042 will be available for PC, along with PS5, PS4, XBOX Series X/S, XBOX One. You can engage in intense warfare, no matter your platform of choice. Plus, there is crossplay support.
It is important to note, however, on PS4 and XBOX One, there is only support for 64 players whereas, on the other platforms, the full 128 players and large-scale maps will be playable.
