It’s the final entry to our Best of Week: New Tech in 2022. I can tell you; it has been a stellar year for tech and innovations.
Tech is advancing faster and faster these days, so it’s important to stop and smell the innovative roses every now and then. Today, we are celebrating the best new tech that came to Overclockers UK in 2022.
AMD Ryzen 7000 Series CPUs
First up, we have the AMD Ryzen 7000 Series CPUs, which dropped back in September. This latest generation of AMD processors utilises Zen 4 architecture, the first commercial CPUs to be made on a 5nm process. There are four models in the series so far, the Ryzen 5 7600X, Ryzen 7 7700X, and two Ryzen 9s, the 7900X and 7950X. Each has at least a 13% uptick in performance on its Zen 3 counterpart, as well as boosted clock speeds of over 5.0GHz.
Future-proofing at its best, these CPUs have support for PCIe 5.0 and DDR5. AMD even developed an exclusive memory overclocking software to work with this generation and DDR5 called AMD EXPO. All of these components add up to the 7000 Series being the most advanced processors for gamers. A spicy innovation for 2022.

Intel 13th Gen “Raptor Lake” CPUs
Not to be left behind, Intel released their 13th Gen Intel Core Processors in October. Dubbed “Raptor Lake”, these CPUs build on and improve upon the ground-breaking hybrid architecture first seen in Alder Lake. Each model features more efficient “E” cores, to help improve load management and work flow. There are six CPUs so far; Intel Core i5-13400, i7-13700, and i9-13900, each available in K and KF models. The K denotes that the CPU can be overclocked and F shows a dedicated GPU is needed.
13th Gen Intel is designed to go beyond performance and optimise your gaming, content creation, and streaming. They support both DDR4 and DDR5 RAM, creating more flexibility for your set-up, as well as being equipped with Thunderbolt 4 technology, for the fastest peripheral connectivity. What’s more, the P- and E-cores can be overclocked separately, to create a fully customised performance to suit your needs. A perfect addition to 2022!

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series
Moving on, we have the first in graphic upgrades: the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series. These absolutely hench GPUs utilise third-generation RTX architecture, dubbed Ada Lovelace. This was manufactured on a custom-made TSMC 4n process, with 76 billion transistors enhancing gaming, streaming, and content creation. So far, the titan-class RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 graphics cards have been unleashed.
Armed with third-gen RT and fourth-gen Tensor cores, the RTX 40 Series renders games in unbelievable photo-realistic quality. The enhanced real-time ray tracing ad shading elevates AAA titles to new heights. Plus, AI features have been improved, as well, overall offering a significant uptick in performance on Ampere generation NVIDIA GPUs. 2022 is all about that smooth gaming.

AMD Radeon RX 7000 Series
The most recent entry to this list, the AMD Radeon RX 7000 Series dropped just two and a half weeks ago! Only featuring two flagship models right now, the 7900XT and 7900XTX, these graphics cards utilise AMD’s brand-new RDNA 3 architecture. Like their CPU brethren, AMD touts the Radeon RX 7000 Series as the most advanced graphics for gamers.
These graphics cards feature a whole new chiplet design that combines 5nm and 6nm process nodes. Each has been optimised for specific workloads, enhancing operation and creating up to 54% more performance per watt in comparison to RDNA 2. Unified compute units, second-gen AMD Infinity Cache, and other innovations to the hardware mean that these GPUs have a 1.7 times uptick in performance, even at 4K! 2022 is all about gaming at the highest fidelity.
