What PC Case Do You Need for the NVIDIA RTX 50 Series?
The NVIDIA RTX 50 Series doesn’t just have one set of dimensions that will fit in every PC case. The size of your GPU will depend on the model and the manufacturer of your chosen card, both of which will influence what PC case you can upgrade to.
NVIDIA has confirmed some basic dimensions for each of the four GPUs in the 50 Series. This includes:
- RTX 5090 – 304 x 137mm. Features on-board dual slot cooling as standard but varies on manufacturer.
- RTX 5080 – 304 x 137mm. Includes on-board dual slot cooling but this is dependent on manufacturer.
- RTX 5070 Ti – 304 x 137mm. On-board dual slot cooling included but can vary on manufacturer.
- RTX 5070 – 242 x 112mm. Integrated dual slot cooling solution as standard but differs depending on manufacturer.
The specs listed above are very basic and may not be completely accurate for your chosen GPU. If you want a definitive answer on the size of your graphics card, we recommend that you do consult with the manufacturer product page. However, we will be using the official dimensions to help give you an idea of what PC case you should pair with your shiny new RTX 50 Series GPU.
With a maximum length of 304mm or even 242mm, your first step should be ensuring you have enough GPU clearance to accommodate. 340mm to 380mm is plenty for housing your chosen graphics card, any additional cooling, and of course those must-have aesthetics. If your GPU does exceed these measurements or includes on-board triple slot cooling instead, you’ll want to think about a PC case with a GPU clearance of at least 400mm, if not higher.
The NVIDIA RTX 50 Series are powerful graphics cards and will require a lot of cooling to keep them performing at optimum temperatures. That’s why your PC case should support multiple fan configurations and even a radiator for those custom water-cooling fanatics.
That’s it for the absolute must-haves. The rest is down to your own personal requirements. Do you want a case with glass panels so you can show off that RTX 5090 with pride? Or maybe even some integrated RGB lighting to illuminate your GPU in vibrant colour? Will you be vertically mounting your 50 Series graphics card? There are plenty of options and case customisations to make your PC your own.
