Over the years, there have been some awesome The Walking Dead games and some downright terrible ones. In this article, we’re taking a look at the best and worst games set in the TWD universe.
The Walking Dead – 2012
Hailing back from a simpler time, Telltale Games’s The Walking Dead is universally accepted to be one of the best adaptations of the franchise. With Overwhelmingly Positive ratings on Steam and numerous awards, this game was just the first in a series of chapters based on Robert Kirkman’s comic book series.
The Walking Dead Destinies – 2023
Now let’s address the elephant in the room, The Walking Dead Destinies is already being hailed as a money grab and one of 2023’s worst games. Viral for all the wrong reasons, TWD Destinies features cutscenes right up there with Skull Island: Rise of Kong’s now infamous .png jump scare.
Released in November on consoles for the honestly shocking price of £39.99, Destinies follows the events of the first few seasons of TWD’s original television series. In the game, we take on the roles of Rick and the gang as they kill their way through familiar scenes from the show. All the while making decisions, allowing individual players to create their own narrative.
On paper, The Walking Dead Destinies sounds like a somewhat decent game. However, thanks to some lacklustre gameplay mechanics, the worst cutscenes we’ve ever seen in a game that costs this much, and outdated graphics, you’ll want to miss this one. At the time of writing, there is even a game-breaking bug stopping some players that drag themselves through this mess from even finishing.
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – 2020
When it comes to VR, zombies are almost the default enemy choice at this point. However, The Walking Dead Saints & Sinners goes well beyond the “kill some zombies and return to base” formula. In Saints & Sinners, we’re transplanted into post-zombie apocalypse New Orleans for a game unlike any other in The Walking Dead universe.
With a vast world to explore, stories to uncover, and difficult choices to make, Saints & Sinners is not only one of the best TWD games available but one of the best VR games you can play. There’s even a whole second chapter you can pick up after the first game.

Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead – 2020
TWD Destinies isn’t the first time we’ve seen a low-quality game in the franchise, either. I’m sure I’ll get some hate for this one, but hear me out. The game itself is alright. Our task is building bridges to allow survivors to cross safely and escape some zombies. Essentially, Bridge Constructor: TWD is just like any other bridge-building game. That’s kind of the problem, the game barely utilises The Walking Dead aspect of its name. This is just another game in the endless bridge builder genre with mediocre The Walking Dead elements crammed in.
The Walking Dead: 400 Days – 2013
Ending our list is something a little different. 400 Days is a DLC that bridged the gap between seasons one and two of Telltale Games masterpiece The Walking Dead… confusing right? The Walking Dead: 400 Days follows five groups of survivors as they slowly find each other.
After the insane popularity of the first chapter of Telltale’s The Walking Dead, 400 Days hit at the perfect time, providing us with that sweet, sweet Telltale TWD action everyone was craving.
At Overclockers UK, we have our exciting range of pre-built PCs – Refract Gaming – and they have been updated with shiny new tech!
