And the winner is… God of War: Ragnarök!

The EE Game of the Year is absolutely the top dog award to be won – and it was voted for by the general public. The highest stamp of approval comes from the people! Every game nominated for this category was a strong contender to win, 2022 did not disappoint with its game releases. Up for this award was Elden Ring, God of War: Ragnarök, Horizon Forbidden West, Immortality, Marvel Snap, and Stray. God of War: Ragnarök absolutely deserves the title – but we’d have been happy with any of these winning, really!

And the winner is… Tunic!

To make your first game is an achievement enough, but for it to capture the collective imagination and be nominated for an award is something else. The nominees for Best Debut this year were As Dusk Falls, The Case of the Golden Idol, Stray, Tunic, Vampire Survivors, and Trombone Champ. Tunic is a deserved win, from its beautiful isometric design to the varied and technical combat. Plus, the protagonist fox is undeniably cute!

Evolving Game

And the winner is… Final Fantasy Online XIV!

We love a game that keeps on giving. The Evolving Game category was filled with games near and dear to our hearts. Nominees were Apex Legends, Dreams, The Elder Scrolls Online, Final Fantasy XIV Online, Forza Horizon 5, and No Man’s Sky. FF14 has been a staple of the Final Fantasy franchise for nearly ten years now, and the fact the game is still evolving just makes our nerdy hearts happy. This big win makes us want to jump right back into the action!

Best British Game

And the winner is… Rollerdrome!

We are Overclockers UK, we’re going to root for the great games made on British soil. The nominees for this category were Citizen Sleeper, OlliOlli World, Rollerdome, Total War: Warhammer III, Two Point Campus, and Vampire Survivors. Rollerdrome is slick and seamless. The graphic novel style design, the fluid movement, and visceral combat, all winning choices.

And the winner is… God of War: Ragnarök!

If the recent mixtape blog post we shared wasn’t a big give away, we love gaming soundtracks. From the skill and musical mastery that goes into scoring a game, to the all the feels they elicit. It’s a joy to listen to. So, as to the props these composers deserve! This year’s nominees were Olivier Derivère for A Plague Tale: Requiem, Kristofer Maddigan for Cuphead – The Delicious Last Course, Tsukasa Saito for Elden Ring, Bear McCreary for God of War: Ragnarök, Yann van der Cruyssen for Stray, and Lifeformed and Janice Kwan for Tunic. God of War: Ragnarök was a well-deserved win and I shall be binge listening to it on Spotify.

Best Performer in a Leading Role

And the winner is… Christopher Judge!

Getting the right voice for a game can make all the difference. All the nominees for Best Performer in a Leading Role hit the mark. This year saw nominations for Alain Mesa as Alejandro Vargas (COD: Modern Warfare II), Christopher Judge as Kratos (God of War: Ragnarök), Charlotte McBurney as Amicia (A Plague Tale: Requim), Manon Gage as Marissa Marcel (Immortality), Siobhan Williams as Laura (The Quarry), and Sunny Suljic as Atreus (God of War: Ragnarök). There is no denying, while these were all fabulous performances, Christopher Judge absolutely nails it as Kratos. The deep timbre and gravitas to his voice has had us entranced since his days in SG-1!

And the winner is… Elden Ring!

The final category that we’re looking at today is Multiplayer. If you’ve been following our weekend multiplayer series, then you know we live to spend our free time with the people and games we love. We even put a guide together to make sure your gaming PC is multiplayer ready. A stellar bunch of games, the nominees are Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, EA Sports FIFA 23, Elden Ring, Overwatch 2, Splatoon 3, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. All of these have definitely joined the roster for some weekend gaming, and Elden Ring absolutely earned this win.
