When Modern Warfare launched in 2019, it was accompanied by Call of Duty’s own take on the battle royale genre with Warzone. With Modern Warfare 2 launching in 2022, it was only appropriate that we got Call of Duty Warzone 2.0, too.
We’re breaking down what you can expect from this game, the official specifications, and some great PCs you can play it on.
What’s New in Warzone 2?
Like its predecessor, Warzone 2 is a free-to-play battle royale game. Compared to other titles in the genre, the original supported a bumper number of players per match at 150. As is often the case, it utilised a system of seasons to tell an ongoing narrative and offer new items for players to outfit their characters. Warzone 2 represents a reset, with characters being wiped clean and a new story kicking off.
In terms of gameplay, swimming is a new mechanic. In fact, new maps and boats will make great use of the feature. Vehicles as a whole are getting a revamp, able to take more detailed damage such as punctures, and be used as cover even after blown into a husk. There’s new equipment and weapons coming that weren’t featured in the original, as well as a firing range for you to test your loadout.
Improving on the Original
Infinity Ward stepped up their game for both Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2. They developed a new engine to be used in both 2022 Call of Duty titles. With this new foundation, we can enjoy several new benefits and innovative features. Let’s recap all of the interesting information announced so far.
Upgraded Visuals
Warzone 2 can support ray tracing and DLSS, for a superb visual experience. This visual upgrade won’t be exclusive to PC, as the newest generation of gaming consoles can use a 120Hz mode for improved smoothness and response times.

Will there be a FOV Slider?
While Warzone has supported crossplay for a while, it has been to the detriment of console players. Unlike gamers on the PC, they have been unable to customise their field of view (FOV) which leaves them at a disadvantage. Activision explained it would cause performance issues on consoles, hence why they left it out of the original Warzone. But, with the improved hardware of current-gen consoles, Warzone 2 supports it. Huzzah!
When is Warzone 2 Out?
Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 has been available to play since November 16th 2022.
Warzone 2.0 will be playable on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. It has been confirmed it will not be on last-gen consoles, namely the PS4 and Xbox One, due to technical limitations. It does, however, have full crossplay support.
