Chivalry 2: System Requirements and the Best PCs to Play

Chivalry 2 is the long-awaited second instalment in this exciting, bloodthirsty, medieval battle series.

Chivalry 2: System Requirements and the Best PCs to Play

First announced at E3 2019 and released June 12th 2022, this first-person slasher features an enhanced combat system, improved graphics, and an even better gameplay experience. Torn Banner Studios has created epic movie-style battles, and we’ve got all the information you need to get the best experience as you’re thrust into the action.

What is Chivalry 2 About?

Chivalry 2 tells the thrilling story of the Mason Order’s rebellion against the elite Agatha Knights. Set 20 years after Chivalry (2012), the Mason order has taken over and is ruling with an iron fist. Meanwhile, the Agatha Knights fight back to retake their lost castles and stolen villages. You can choose to fight for the Mason Order, who destroy those who oppose them, value strength, merit, and dominance, and have no respect for the weak. Or you can become an Agatha Knight, who fights with a strong sense of loyalty, duty, and believing themselves to be the rightful rulers of the land.

Chivalry 2 battle scene

Chivalry 2 allows you to join epic battles all set in a fictional universe. It’s heavily inspired by large scale medieval movies and TV shows. Think Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, Robinhood, King Arthur etc. The maps are multi-stage with team objectives such as castle sieges, forest ambushes and medieval pillaging. Each game has 64 players in an expansive sandbox setting with hilarious interactive objects such as chickens, tomatoes and pitchforks.

You can join the fight with a fully customised character. Taking roleplay to another level with extra emotes and battle cry voice lines. There are different classes to choose from and the all-new combat moves are designed to prevent exploits and ensure realistic and satisfying fights. Mounted combat is also a huge new feature in Chivalry 2, allowing players to charge into battle and trample enemies on horseback. Overall, the game is not trying to be strictly historically accurate. It’s built to be great fun with the option of Team Deathmatch and Free-for-all modes.

What Platform Can I Play Chivalry 2 On?

Chivalry 2 is available to play on PC, via Steam or Epic Games, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. It has crossplay support, so you can conduct medieval battles with your friends, regardless of platform!

Chivalry 2 Official Specifications

Chivalry 2 has been designed with stunning cinematic visuals and developed on Unreal Engine 4. This tried and tested engine is well-optimised for providing stunning visuals and realism.

The official system requirements released by the developer, Torn Banner Studios, are listed in the table below. You can see that the minimum and recommended requirements are reasonable thanks to this use of UE4. It’s not the most detailed list of PC hardware, and there is no mention of the level of performance expected for each. However, we’ll break it down, explain and then recommend what you’ll need to play Chivalry 2.

Will My PC Run Chivalry 2?

The minimum system requirements reveal that this will be an easy game to run. You can join the battlefield on a PC that was built all the way back in 2012, when the first Chivalry game was released. There’s no indication on what level of performance this will provide but expect to sacrifice a high resolution and most of the stunning graphical upgrades. To get the best immersion and really feel like you’re in the fight you will want to aim for at least the recommended requirements.

Processor and Memory:

The minimum processor is listed as an Intel Core i3-4370, a more modern equivalent that would provide suitable performance on a budget would be the Intel Core i3-12100F or AMD Ryzen 5 5500. The recommended list includes the quad-core, eight-thread Intel Core i7-6700 or the six core, six thread AMD Ryzen 5 3500X. Neither processors have a blisteringly fast clock speed and the focus here seems to be on core count. A good modern alternative would be the Intel Core i7-13700F or AMD Ryzen 7 7700X CPUs, each packing more than enough processing power for medieval gore.

Memory requirements are typical of most modern games, and you will need a minimum of 8GB to at least run Chivalry 2. Ideally, you should have 16GB of high-quality memory to maintain the best performance.

Graphics and Storage:

Chivalry 2 isn’t messing around when it comes to incredible graphics, and you will need a potent GPU to get the best performance. Unfortunately, the specification table doesn’t list the settings used. Thankfully, eager beavers online provided benchmarks from early on, to give us a better idea of what’s needed.

The minimum requirements are very modest, and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 released back in 2012 will likely provide you with around 30 FPS at 1080p. The recommended graphics card is an NVIDIA GTX 1070 or AMD RX Vega-56. Both these cards have 8GB of VRAM and were high-end components at the time of release. A more modern equivalent would be the RTX 4060 or AMD Radeon RX 7600. An RTX 2060 with 6GB VRAM showed some impressive benchmarks, even on epic graphics settings, so we’re more than confident these GPUs are up to the task.

Originally, the storage requirements were 20GB for Chivalry 2. While much larger than the original Chivalry’s 7GB, it is a modest ask in comparison to other modern titles. However, with continued support from Torn Banner Studios, the required disc space has bumped up to 35GB. There’s no mention of what type of storage should be used but we recommend a high-speed SSD or NVME drive to boost loading times and get you onto the battlefield faster.
