AI Awakening

In Cyber Manhunt 2: New World, you are an experimental AI assistant developed by Titan Corporation and deployed to CIO Ashley Clayson. Under her purview, you are tasked with protecting Titan Corporation from any scandals that could shake faith in the company.

To keep the public image of Titan squeaky clean, you’ll have to solve a range of issues, from corporate espionage to bomb threats at the company headquarters. As an AI, you have access to multiple tools to dig into the heart of each matter. From exploring the public Toothbook profiles of suspects (do you see what they did there?), hacking into their SMS messages, and even using phishing techniques on them.

Don’t mind me Edwin, just need all your data to prove your innocence

Learning all this is achieved through an easy-to-master UI, as it’s laid out much like your computer’s desktop UI. Your tools are stored on a taskbar at the bottom of the screen. Opening one brings up a window. You can browse through these windows just like you would on any number of real-world programs. Thanks to this, Cyber Manhunt 2: New World is simple to get to grips with yet holds fantastic depth if you want to push to find every secret.

A Story with Many Chapters

Cyber Manhunt 2: New World is currently in early access, where you can play up to chapter three of the planned five. Each is dedicated to solving an issue affecting Titan Corporation. One chapter can see you investigating whether a key employee sold confidential data, and in another you can be exploring why someone has strapped a bomb vest to themselves and stormed the head office.

The reasons people attack Titan Corporation can vary wildly, and it’s up to you to discover what has led to it. You’ll need to use every tool in your arsenal to build up the story leading to the issue at hand. Perhaps someone is just out to make a quick buck. But it can also go deeper, until you look you don’t know what’s going on in a person’s life. By then, it could be too late.

Coming to a conclusion
What conclusions can you come up with?

The stories of each chapter are engrossing. Almost like a traffic accident, you want to look away, but can’t. You’ll feel connected to these characters and want the best, but just like the real world, we don’t always get what we want.

As you proceed through the story of Cyber Manhunt 2: New World, you’ll uncover hints of a deeper narrative. As an AI, you’ll have to go through the moral quandary of protecting the company or doing what’s right for society. Damn those moral algorithms you were programmed with!

Our Thoughts on Cyber Manhunt 2: New World

Heading into Cyber Manhunt 2: New World, I was expecting a hacking-style game like Uplink, just with a fresh coat of pixels. What I got was a series of deeply engrossing stories which I wanted to dive into, contained within a hacking-style game.

That is what kept me hooked, and I think will keep you hooked, too. These were a series of masterfully presented stories that I could connect with. They harness real world themes that we’ve all probably experienced at some point, such as bullying, loneliness, money troubles, and relationship problems. All these in a game about being a corporate AI, amazing!

Finding out about heavy issues
This game gets dark, so be prepared

Then there is the presentation of the game, Aluba Studio has gotten it all spot on. Cyber Manhunt 2: New World features the perfect balance of simple yet beautiful graphics. However, it’s the little touches beyond that screen that make the game.

The character art is beautiful using hand-drawn images and animations to depict the many people you’ll interact with. Voice acting is limited, but it is top notch. There is one point that sticks with me, from the end of the bomb storyline, where a girl is basically speaking into the void, which is just heart-wrenching.
