The long winter nights are drawing in giving us the *perfect* excuse to stay in, wrap up warm, and enjoy some good ol’ late night gaming. To combat those chilly dark nights and get your blood pumping (often to some incredible soundtracks), we’ve picked out our top arcade games!
There’s a single-, multi-player, and brand-new rec, so there’s certainly a game here for everyone.
Hi-Fi Rush
In Hi-Fi Rush, play as wannabe rockstar Chai and his team of allies as you desperately try to defeat an evil robotics megacorp with rocking raucous rhythm combat. Explore a vibrant retro-esque world that literally moves to the beat from Chai, the environment, and even enemy attacks. As you venture through this evil megacorp, battle it out against each department boss to the backdrop of some epic music tracks by bands such as Nine Inch Nails and The Prodigy.
The brand-new Arcade Challenge update allows players to test their abilities in two game modes and unlock some very tasty rewards. First is BPM Rush in which waves after waves of enemies will swarm you whilst music with an increasing BMP (beats per minute) plays in the background. The more foes you defeat, the faster the BPM will speed up to in the next level! Alternatively, there is Power Up! Tower Up! This is a chaotic twist on the Rhythm Tower mode but with a downgraded Chai and lots of randomised upgrades.

UFO 50
Enjoy countless hours of fun this weekend with UFO 50, a huge collection of 50 single- and multi-player arcade-esque games from platformers, shoot ‘em ups, and puzzle classics, to roguelites. All 50 games are available to play from the start, there are no levels to unlock or extra price to pay! You and a friend can easily jump into any of the games at a whim.
According to developers, the games were all created by a fictional 80s video game company, adding an extra element of fun to your weekend gaming marathons. Some titles are sequels to others in the collection and you may even spot recurring characters. All of which you can enjoy in the unique 32-colour palette and realistic 8-bit retro graphics. But, while they may look straight out of the 80’s, there’s plenty of support for modern-day controls.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind is a classic beat ‘em up arcade that stars everyone’s favourite colourful heroes. Robo Rita has finally succeeded in creating a portal to transport herself back in time to team up with her younger self and defeat the Power Rangers once and for all. Only you have the skill and bravery to play as Red, Yellow, Blue, Pink, Black, and Silver to rewind and rewrite history to put an end to Robo Rita’s plan.
Enjoy the classic 90’s retro look and feel, courtesy of the hand-drawn pixel art style, as you battle it out against iconic enemies from the hit TV show. Harness the arcade-style shooting, driving sequences, and even pilot the legendary Megazord to take down deadly bosses and save the course of history.
