Even More Gaming Easter Eggs

It just wouldn’t be Easter without Overclockers UK gaming easter eggs!

We’re suckers for tradition therefore this year we’re back with ten more gaming easter eggs from some of the very best video games in history.

Crack Out Our Other Easter Eggs

Before we get cracking into this year’s easter eggs, why not take a few yolks and check out all our other gaming easter eggs?

The Sims 4 – The Loch Ness Monster

The Sims is jam packed full of strange creatures from Cow Plants, aliens, to mermaids. Joining the list is the infamous Loch Ness Monster.

She’s made several cameos across the Sims franchise. Currently, players can find her in the waters surrounding The Buffs in the world of Windenburg in The Sims 4.

Fallout: New Vegas – Indiana Jones and the Nuclear Fridge

Turns out in Fallout: New Vegas, even famed archaeologists can’t survive the apocalypse.

As you roam the Mojwave Wasteland, players can stumble across an opened fridge with a pile of bones which mysteriously looks a lot like Indiana Jones. Armed with his trusty fedora and whip.

GTA San Andreas – Half-Life Crowbar

In GTA: San Andreas, during the ‘Black Project’ mission, you’ll need to infiltrate the Senora Desert to find Area 69 and steal a jetpack.

This mission provides players with a hefty reward but also a good ol’ easter egg. For those beady eye folk among us, if you pay attention to the rooms in the facility, you’ll spot a crowbar that looks oddly similar to the one owned by Gordon Freeman in Half-Life. What’s more, the facility even looks like the Black Mesa Research lab.

The Last of Us Part 2 – Jax and Daxter Precursor Orb

In The Last of Us Part 2, as you explore Chinatown Street in the Hostile territory, you’ll find a so-called ‘Strange Relic’.

Well, this relic isn’t so strange. In fact, it’s a ‘Precursor Orb’ from Jax and Daxter, another one of Naughty Dog’s game series. Whilst you can find these orbs in all the Uncharted games, this is said to be the first and only in The Last of Us.

Stardew Valley – Concerned Ape Hat

Stardew Valley is full of plenty of easter eggs, from references to Studio Ghibli and its creator, Concerned Ape. Now this is big spoilers for those who might not have ever reached ‘Perfection’ status. I’d jump to the next one if you haven’t yet.

Once you reach ‘Perfection’ status, in which you’ve completed literally everything, if you travel to the Volcano and speak to the monkey, you’ll be given the ??? hat. This very fashionable piece of headwear is Concerned Ape’s profile picture on social media.

Cyberpunk 2077 – Hideo Kojima on a Night Out

The man, the myth, the legend, Hideo Kojima can be spotted enjoying a night out in Cyberpunk 2077.

Whilst he’s not working on the Metal Gear series or Death Standing, Kojima can be found in the Night City. You’ll need to play through ‘The Heist’ mission in order to spot him.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed – Frozen Jar Jar Binks

There are so many infamous Star Wars video games. In one of which, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, you can find a special trophy room dedicated to all the special creatures from the series.

One of which is Jar Jar Binks, stuck completely frozen in carbonite. Unfortunately, there’s no way to unfreeze Jar Jar and bring him along on the adventure.

Grand Theft Auto IV – Beating Heart of Liberty City

Now this is a rather strange one. In GTA IV, if you travel via helicopter to the doors on the Statue of Happiness, you’ll uncover something that’s a tad unsettling.

Travel through the door between two signs reading, ‘no hidden content this way’, and you’ll find a giant, beating heart held together by chains…

Uncharted 3 – The Last of Us Newspaper

The cordyceps easter egg still remains one of the biggest leaks in video game history. Hidden away in Uncharted 3 there is a reference to The Last of Us

This newspaper was originally put into the game when it was believed it would be announced before Uncharted 3. Schedules later changed but the easter egg stayed in place, kickstarting plenty of rumours about a Naughty Dog zombie game.

Left 4 Dead 2 – Jukebox Playing Portal’s ‘Still Alive’

Sometimes you just need to slay zombies to the backdrop of an incredible soundtrack. Left 4 Dead 2 doesn’t disappoint thanks to the jukebox found in the Parish campaign.

As you flip through all the songs, you’ll soon recognise the tune ‘Still Alive’ from Portal. A rather fitting tune for those battling to stay alive in a zombie apocalypse.
