After Rockstar Games’ community upgrade in 2022, and sudden leak of gameplay footage, we keep hearing more details and rumours about the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI.
As we not-so-patiently await its release, we’ve put together some of our favourite rumours and potential gameplay features that we’re most excited to see in GTA VI.
It finally happened! Rockstar Games dropped the trailer and rough release date for GTA VI.
Potential Gameplay:
Vice City:
According to rumours from way back in 2018, we could be reunited with Vice City in GTA VI. Vice City draws inspiration from Miami and Miami Beach.
If Grand Theft Auto VI is set in Vice City, it’s possible that it could also be set in a different time period. Similar to the original Grand Theft Auto: Vice City game, which was based in the 1980s.
Liberty City:
Along with Vice City, players might also be able to explore Liberty City. Based on New York City, it’s been reported that these two locations will be available for players to travel between.
Project Americas:
What’s more, there has also been circulation of rumours surrounding ‘Project Americas’. GTA VI will be set in both America and South America. Players will be able to freely travel to a city in each location, which will most likely have separate missions and tasks to complete.
Female Protagonist:
Ever since the co-founder of Rockstar Games, Dan Houser expressed their interest in creating a female protagonist back in 2013, fans of the franchise think that Grand Theft Auto VI will have a female playable character. Whilst the franchise has featured a colourful bunch of characters, ranging from fictionalised crime bosses to a trailer park weapons dealer, there hasn’t been a playable female protagonist.
According to Dan Houser in 2013, they hadn’t ‘found the right game for it yet’. Could this be GTA VI?
Twin Brother and Sister Protagonists:
Along with the female character, there have been rumours of a second playable male character that will be her twin brother.
According to these reports, the game will focus on their relationship after the murder of their parents by the cartel and put them on opposite sides in the war on drugs. One is on the side of the DOA, the fictionalised version of the DEA, whilst the other attempts to intricate the cartel.
Rockstar Games Hack:
The recent unexpected hack at Rockstar Games has got fans even more excited. On the 19th of September, Rockstar Games reported that 3GB of data of GTA VI was leaked online on the forums.
The file contained 90 videos of very early GTA VI gameplay footage, including hints that the world would be based in Vice City. Some of the videos showed some small animation tests, whilst others confirmed rumours of potential male and female protagonists.

When is GTA VI Going to be Released?
Unfortunately, we won’t be seeing GTA VI any time soon as the game is still in development. But we’ll be sure to keep you updated on any potential release dates and information.
What are the official PC specifications for GTA VI?
Since there is no confirmed release date and the game is currently still in early development, there are no official PC specifications for GTA VI. However, we can expect the game to utilise cutting-edge features such as Real-Time Ray Tracing, and potentially make use of the latest generation of AMD and Intel CPUs.
