Everything We Know About GTA VI So Far

The first official trailer for GTA VI dropped way back in December last year, and since then it’s been non-stop hype. The 2025 release date just can’t come soon enough.

To scratch that GTA VI itch, we’re showcasing all the incredible gameplay features that we know are coming, and a few that we hope will eventually be added.

GTA VI – What We Know So Far

GTA VI

Vice City

The sixth game in the iconic game franchise will see us returning to Vice City, alongside some other never seen before areas. The gameplay won’t be confined to the city streets. In fact, there are hints at a huge map, with countless different areas, including sandy beaches and even the Florida Everglades.

As we took in the sights of the city in the trailer, we spotted some familiar spots including Starfish Island.

Female Protagonist

We got introduced to Lucia, the first female protagonist in GTA history. Our first glimpse of Lucia is when she appears to be in some form of trouble with the law, with hints such as her wearing prison-esque clothing and with a big wad of cash in her hands.

Lucia is shown alongside an unnamed male character, who we can only assume will also play a main role in the story campaign.

Social Media

Perhaps one of the biggest features of the trailer was the social media references. We can expect this social media feature to be a huge new gameplay mechanic delivering video content similar to that of TikTok.

Of course, they’ll be plenty of memes along the way. Leonida man is the new Florida man.

New Vehicles

It couldn’t be GTA VI without plenty of vehicles to take on a joyride. In the brief 90-second trailer, we spotted countless from jumbo jets, speed boats, hover boats, sports cars, to monster trucks.

Floridian Wildlife

Florida is coming alive in GTA VI, and we’ve already had confirmation of some furry friends making their way into the game. In the trailer, we see a glimpse of a tiny chihuahua living its best life running on the beach. In addition to this, flamingos, alligators, dolphins, and sharks are all seen lounging in the water.

We can only hope more animals will earn a place in the gameplay…  Pretty please Rockstar, we don’t ask for much.

Gangs

As confirmed by the trailer, we can expect at least three gangs. Two of which have been named – the Thrillbilly Mud Club and High Rollerz Lifestyle.

Thrillbilly Mud Club is just as it sounds, a dirt truck mud tracing group. Whilst High Rollerz Lifestyle appears to be a street racing gang with high-performance cars. In addition to this, we see hints of a dirt bike gang, who might be our third group.

Weapon Wheel

There have been a few leaks here and there of gameplay, but one that stands out to us is the new weapon wheel. This mechanic had originally been overhauled for GTA V but looks like it’ll be appearing in GTA VI also. The leaked gameplay footage shows new items for health buffs, such as painkillers.

Improvements on Previous Gameplay Mechanics

Whilst GTA V is incredibly popular for a lot of reasons, some of its gameplay mechanics appear to be getting some improvements in GTA VI. This includes the ‘Wanted’ system and better tracking for the VCPD.

GTA VI – Gameplay We Hope to See

Now that’s all the gameplay we currently know about. Let’s move on to the fun stuff – gameplay we hope to see in GTA VI.

Base Jumping

During the opening shots of the trailer, we see a huge radio tower or antenna peeking through the skyline. We think this is the perfect opportunity to implement base jumping.

Base jumping was introduced in both GTA IV – The Ballad of Gay Tony and GTA V. It’s not confirmed if this feature will be making an appearance in GTA VI, but we think it’ll be a pretty good way to kick back and view the stunning Vice City views.

First-Person Mode

Our theories about a first-person mode all stem from the brief shot taken from some body cam footage in the trailer. Whilst it’s not entirely clear if this is a simple news clip or perhaps something taken from the social media feature – we still have hopes that means a first-person mode is in the works. After all, GTA V included one!

GTA VI Online

Arguably one of the biggest features of GTA V was its online multiplayer – GTA V Online. Here, you could play either solo or with friends to create your very own avatar and create your own story. Whether this is becoming a criminal mastermind or simply creating all-out chaos by stealing everyone’s cars.

It would be a huge shame if the online gameplay wasn’t brought into GTA VI. We can see it now… Racing against your friends on airboats through the scenic Everglades., with pesky gators waiting for the inevitable moment when someone falls in.
