Mountain

A new range of peripherals has dropped at Overclockers UK, and this news needs more hype than Game of Throne’s Cleganebowl. Oh yes, we now stock Mountain.gg’s outstanding Everest keyboards and Makalu 67 gaming mouse. There is even a cheeky collab with MOOY and their game-changing cable tidies. Every product from this range is bursting with innovation and amazing features to help you reach the peak of your gaming performance. Let’s take a closer look at these incredible gaming peripherals. Of course, you can bet I’m going to be peppering in as many mountain references as I can. There’ll be brownie points for those who comment where they’re from!

It’s You Who’ll Climb The Mountain

Mountain Everest Core
Features
TKL keyboard
Per key RGB lighting
Genuine Cherry MX switches
Hot-swappable
Aluminium bezel
Single USB hub

At the core of the range is the Mountain Everest Core Mechanical Keyboard. Using a TKL form factor, this sleek keyboard is presented in a brushed aluminium bezel with floating keys in a UK ISO layout. Available in Gunmetal Grey or Midnight Black, the keys are equipped with genuine Cherry MX switches that have pre-lubricated stabilisers for the smoothest action. For pre-installed switches, you can choose from MX Red or MX Brown. But wait, there’s more. Mounted on a switch plate, you have the option to remove and replace the switches with the Cherry MX of your choice. Mountain even provide a handy combo tool for removing keycaps and switches. No soldering required.

Equip WASD with linear, fast Silent Reds. Enjoy the crunch of Blues on your Enter key and space bar. Dance across your keys with the tactile feedback from Brown switches on the main body of your keyboard.

Or just stick to the original switches. Cherry MX Reds are excellent for first-person shooters, thanks to their light actuation force and small travel distance. As an all-rounder switch, the Cherry MX Browns offer a smooth typing action that’s great for work and play.

Climb Every Mountain Higher

When it comes to customisation, the Mountain Everest Core offers more scope than just the switches. The RGB lighting can be configured down to the key, macros can be mapped, and much more, all with the support of Mountain’s Base Camp software. My focus here, though, is the height adjustments.

Utilising an innovative and patent-pending design, the Mountain Everest Core has magnetic, snap-on feet. These can be used to adjust the height and angle of the keyboard to suit your exact needs. Whether you type on an even low profile or at the most extreme angle, these magnetic feet can easily accommodate. Lastly, the Mountain Everest Core features a built-in single USB hub for connecting your extra peripherals.

Ain’t No Mountain High Enough

Full-sized keyboard
Detachable add-ons

Number pad
Magnetic wrist rest

Mountain Everest Max Mechanical Keybaord

Like the look of the Mountain Everest Core, but fancy more? Feast your eyes on the Mountain Everest Max Mechanical Keyboard. This is the Everest Core with more features, so the same TKL keyboard with some shiny add-ons. Quite literally. The Everest Max comes with a detachable numpad, magnetic wrist rest, and unique media dock.

At The Edge of the Black Rocky Mountain

Let’s start with the number pad. Featuring the same brilliant RGB lighting, this numpad can be clicked into place on either the right- or left-hand side. Above the standard number keys, there are four LCD display keys which can be configured to a number of shortcuts. Even the button face is customisable. Perfect for Discord, Steam, or browser shortcuts, the Everest Max is all about making life easier for you.

Helping you to save on space, the magnetic wrist rest is also detachable and covered in the same PU leather used on noblechairs. As a result, the Everest Max’s wrist rest is soft to the touch, 100% vegan, and won’t leave you sweaty. I haven’t even got onto the part about how it supports your wrists perfectly whilst gaming and typing! Holding your hands in a more natural position, you’ll experience less strain and fatigue – allowing you to game for longer.

Finally, the cherry on top: the media dock with digital display. This clips onto the top edge of the bezel, again either on the left or right, granting you quick access to all your media controls. Not only is this a panel of hotkeys for controlling audio, but the digital dial can display a myriad of information. System health? Sure. Onboard memory profiles? You betcha. Current RGB effect? Absolutely.

All of these features come on top of everything the Everest Core is capable of, creating a truly maxed out keyboard. Learn more about the Everest Max here.

That Good Ole Mountain Dew

Are you more of a “start from scratch” peripheral fan or do you have your perfect set of keycaps and switches? You can bet that Mountain have you covered here too. As part of the range, they offer a barebone version of the Mountain Everest TKL Keyboard. Still supporting all the features seen on the Core and Max, the Mountain Everest Barebone lets you build your perfect mechanical keyboard from the bezel up.

There’s Always Going To Be Another Mountain

MOUNTAIN Makalu 67 Optical USB RGB Gaming Mouse - White (MG-MAM3-1)
Features
PixArt PAW3070 sensor
Up to 19,000 DPI
Teflon skates with replacement pair
Ribcage shell with RGB lighting
Water repellent PCB coating
Flexible, braided cable

Pairing nicely with your potential new keyboard, is the Mountain Makalu 67 Optical Gaming Mouse. At the absolute bleeding edge of technology, this is the first mouse to be equipped with the new PixArt PAW3370 sensor. With a resolution of up to 19,000 DPI and a 50% lower error rate than the PWM3389, this sensor will facilitate deadly accurate and speedy gaming. The mouse will hold 5 DPI settings, from 100 to the full 19k, which you can toggle through easily thanks to the DPI switch and indicator LEDs.

At roughly 67g, the Mountain Makalu 67 is delightfully lightweight with a flexible braided cable that connects to your gaming PC or Everest USB hub. Exiting the mouse at a 5-degree angle, cable drag is minimal, leaving you free to effortlessly glide and navigate through your game. Upon the underside are two U-shaped skates, manufactured from 100% PTFE for the ultimate smooth action. Whilst entirely durable, skates do wear down with heavy usage, so Mountain included a spare set that’s easy to replace and install.

Unique in design, the ribcage shell negates the need for an inner frame. Protecting the inside and out, the Mountain Makalu 67 has a PCB coating which not only makes the mouse more durable, but water repellent too! Illuminating the shell is a ring of 8 individually addressable RGB LEDs, placed around the ALPS encoder scroll wheel. The perfect size for medium to large hands, this gaming mouse is best used with the palm or claw grip.

Mountain Nunatak Mouse Mat.

Of course, for every great gaming mouse, you need an equally great mouse mat. Enter the Mountain Nunatak Mouse Mat. Available in medium or extra-large, this water-repellent, polyester gaming surface pairs perfectly with the Teflon skates of the Makalu 67, providing you with buttery smooth performance. Plus, being water-resistant means that any little accidents are easily remedied. You need only mourn the loss of your morning coffee.

The underside is equipped with a non-slip, natural rubber that will keep you standing firm whatever obstacles your favourite game throws your way. With no cinching, budging, or sliding about your desk, you can keep your focus on what matters. Rather than a pesky, migrating mat!

Absolutely stylish, the main body of the Mountain Nunatak is black with white accents forming the anti-fray stitched edges and Mountain logo. The only difficult choice with adding this mouse mat to your basket will be deciding on the size. Stick to the standard medium, with ample space to outmanoeuvre your enemies, or opt for the extra-large and have somewhere to keep your keyboard too.

Before talking about the final product, I wanted to touch base with Mountain’s supporting software: Base Camp. Compatible with both Everest keyboards and the Makalu 67 gaming mouse, this software provides access to all the customisation options and updates you’ll need for tailoring these peripherals. Make them work your way.

Firstly, Base Camp can be used for creating and assigning shortcuts, key bindings, and macros. Make the side buttons on the Mountain Makalu 67 fire spells, or create shortcuts to health kits; whatever your gaming dictates. What’s more, all these products have onboard memory, allowing you to save more than one profile of customisations to your devices. Up to five in fact. Have an FPS profile, an MMO profile, a work profile, or even a creating profile. Whatever you need, Base Camp provides.

It is also within Base Camp that you can customise the RGB lighting. Featuring a range of pre-set effects and 16.7 million colours, the possibilities are near-endless. Make rainbows, support your favourite esports team by lighting up in their colours, or show off your own branding whilst streaming top-notch gaming content. Furthermore, the RGB lighting is supported by Razer Chroma, meaning you can synchronise your chosen effects with other compatible devices and create a coordinated light show!

The final product dropping in the Mountain range is their collaboration with MOOY.
