Bonfire Night brings with it one burning question – what fun, explosive games can I play? Fear not, we have you covered! These five games are filled with all the fireworks you could need.
Whether you’re looking for big bangs and bombastic booms or just a kaleidoscope of chaos and whimsy, each of these games is simply the bomb. Check out the cacophony of insane weapons and explosions for yourself. Plus, we’ve picked out some gaming PCs with RGB as dazzling as any Bonfire Night display to go with them.
Doom Eternal – Destroy the Moon
The Doom franchise was already legendary for its cornucopia of explosive and high-impact weaponry when it was still stuck in two and a half dimensions. It’s vibe is so strong that noblechairs managed to capture it in a gorgeous gaming chair. Doom Eternal cranks the carnage up to levels we quite frankly didn’t think were visually possible. Although this is true throughout the game, its crescendo comes when the Doomslayer finds the BFG 10,000. This mighty moon-mounted rail gun is quite frankly huge. Then it shoots Mars.
That’s right, after climbing into the control centre of this gargantuan gun, you disable those silly safety protocols to take aim at the red planet. One pull of the trigger later and it has its own Grand Canyon. While it may explode in the aftermath, you are given the handheld BFG 9000 to go galivanting off with. Oh, what fun you’ll have.

Worms – Bring Up the Holy Hand Grenade
You can already hear the Hallelujah, can’t you? Whether you’re going classic with Worms Armageddon or the more recent Worms Rumble, you will find the iconic Holy Hand Grenade in your arsenal. The Worms franchise is filled with enough explosions to fill the skies on any Bonfire Night. But none can hold a candle in our hearts to the Holy Hand Grenade.
Lob this sacred bomb at your foes and watch them go off like a Roman Candle. The crater this explosive leaves is truly satisfying. What’s better, you won’t have to remember how long the fuse of this particular Holy Hand Grenade lasts. Unlike a certain king…
Fallout – Poor, Poor Megaton
Fallout is about a world that has been devastated by the effects of an all-out nuclear war. It’s the aftermath, the fallout if you will, that drives the story and conflicts and not actual nuclear explosions. The games feature more than their fair share of explosions, filled with guns, grenades, and Power Armour. But thank Atom they found room for at least one nuke to make an impact.
In Fallout 3, you will arrive early on in the town of Megaton, named so for the dormant nuclear bomb at its centre. Later in the game, you are infamously given the option to detonate said nuke and observe its explosion from a safe distance. Doing so is obviously a very bad decision for your karma, both in-game and in real life. But if you’re looking for the mother of all fireworks to mark your Bonfire Night, then this is the mushroom cloud for the job. We can only hope that Amazon’s upcoming Fallout TV series will have a moment as jaw-dropping as this.
noblechairs ICON Gaming Chair Fallout Nuka-Cola Quantum Edition (GC-03Z-NC)
While we don’t recommend drinking the radioactive Nuka Cola Quantum, we cannot give this gaming chair a glowing enough recommendation. Not just because it comes with all the premium comforts and superior ergonomics that noblechairs is known for. Not just because of its gorgeous blue and purple PU leather upholstery that looks like it’s straight from the Wasteland. But because the thread on the rear bottle design literally glows in the dark. That’s how to stand out on Bonfire Night.

Age of Empires 2 – BIGDADDY
A game that focuses on thirteen historical civilisations up to the Renaissance might not immediately strike you as one to be filled with big bangs and explosions. That impression would be accurate. Age of Empires II is a legendary real-time strategy game, focusing on conflicts between civilisations that stretch all the way back to the Dark Ages. Not much scope for bombs and bangs back then, but that’s where BIGDADDY comes in.
This cheat code summons a Winsett’s Z, a sleek black sports car, mounted by a person holding a rocket launcher. Anachronistic doesn’t even begin to cover its presence in Age of Empires II. With this code, you can summon a convoy of these explosive vehicles to light up the battlefield. With AoE damage that dwarfs all siege weaponry and enough power to one-hit-kill almost any target, BIGDADDY can make any Bonfire Night go off with a bang.
Overwatch 2 – Try to Avoid the Explosions
We were very excited when the sequel to PC gaming staple Overwatch landed in our laps last month. The team-based hero shooter from Blizzard has been a staple of the video game scene since launching in 2016. Overwatch 2 looks to carry that mantle on, but now as a free-to-play title, you can easily download it to get some fireworks going this Bonfire Night.
You’ll find yourself surrounded by bangs, whizzes, and booms seconds into any game. But if you want to make your own explosions then be sure to play with a Damage-type Hero. The likes of Junkrat and Pharah come loaded out ready to set off all the fireworks you could need.
