Glorious PC Gaming Race is no more, long live Glorious. The brand renowned for producing gorgeous, high-end peripherals has decided it is time for a change. Along with a new logo and refreshed branding, the company has shortened its name to Glorious

Their original name is certainly something of an oddity to those not in the know. The manufacturer highlighted this in the official announcement acknowledging that it helped them stand out “within a crowded industry dominated by some massive corporations”. But times have changed, and the company felt it was ready for its next evolution.

From Memes to Dreams

The term “glorious PC gaming master race” was coined and popularised by Ben “Yahtzee” Croshaw in his video review series Zero Punctuation. Now a feature of online video game magazine The Escapist, this edition came out prior to that time when he was posting to YouTube in a review of The Witcher. It was a joking line meant as a jab at the attitudes of the more intolerant sect of PC enthusiasts to console gamers. But the internet took the joke in stride and it gained life of its own.

When Glorious founder Shazim started the company at age 24, he chose the meme as his business’s moniker to appeal to the die-hard PC gaming community he himself was a part of. It worked, as online communities such as Reddit helped popularise the brand. That is because the meme was also an expression of pride for hardware that remained forever expandable and upgradeable.

Glorious is All Grown Up

From gaming mice to keyboards, Glorious has become a leading brand when it comes to high-quality peripherals and accessories for PC enthusiasts. In the few years since it was founded, the company has become one of the fastest growing start-ups in the industry. But that means the community around them has grown and changed as well.

“We’re still a company of die-hard PC gaming enthusiasts, and we’ll always serve PC gaming enthusiasts. But this new brand image will better serve everyone who uses Glorious gear as we keep growing long into the future.”

With more people joining the PC gaming community, it’s thrilling to see a company like Glorious help open the doors for them.
