Why Buy a Wireless Gaming Headset?

Wireless gaming headsets are a must-have peripheral for anyone wanting to enjoy clutter-free, versatile gaming.

Completely wireless, you won’t need to worry about unnecessary cables cluttering up your desk, getting tangled in wires during intensive gameplay, or being tethered to your desk. In need of a midnight snack during a gaming marathon with the squad? Well, you can just get right up, headset still on, and wander to the fridge to pick out the ultimate gaming snack.

What’s more, your wireless headset can go anywhere with you. Whether you’re commuting to work and want to listen to your favourite gaming soundtracks on-the-go, or packing up your set up for a LAN session with the squad – a wireless gaming headset can go anywhere!

Advantages

  • No cables cluttering up your space or getting tangled
  • Portability – easy to take on-the-go with you or even wear around the house

Disadvantages

  • Can have problems with sound quality and connectivity issues
  • Typically more expensive than wired
  • Often more complicated to use – requires more steps to configure and plug in
  • Battery life – can be hit or miss

How to Connect via Bluetooth

In Windows, to connect your wireless headset via Bluetooth, you will need to go into Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > then turn on Bluetooth.

Once you’ve turned on your PC’s Bluetooth, you will then need to turn on your wireless headphones to make it discoverable. We recommend you check the manufacturer’s guide or website for the specific steps you need to follow in order to make your headset discoverable.

Once your headset is discoverable, locate the tray of icons on your task bar, usually near the time and date. From here select > the Network, Sound or Battery icon > Manage Bluetooth devices > select your chosen device under Not paired.

How to Connect via 2.4GHz Wireless

Certain wireless headsets come equipped with a 2.4GHz dongle. This will typically require a USB port.

To connect your headset via the 2.4GHz wireless, you will first need to ensure you plug the dongle into your PC via a spare USB port. Once you’ve done this, in Windows, you’ll receive a pop-up box saying that your wireless headset is ready to use – and that’s it!
