What is Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel?
Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel is an action roguelike with bullet hell and horde-survivor mechanics, from developers Games Farm and ARTillery and publishers Grindstone. Set in the dark realms of Norse Mythology, you play as one of the damned heroes fighting off endless waves of enemies.
This richly detailed game with, frankly, stunning graphics takes you through the Nine Worlds, with quests to complete specific objectives or overcome obstacles. All while the hordes of Hel relentlessly descend upon you.
Each damned hero has unique skills, abilities, and weapons with a meta-progression system that offers unlockable perks and upgrades. By mixing and matching combinations, you can refine your hero to best suit your playstyle and overcome the endless monsters and final bosses.
Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel Reception
Since launching into early access on January 21st 2025, Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel has garnered over a thousand positive reviews. Currently, it is rated as Very Positive on Steam – a strong start!
As it is in early access, player feedback and bug reporting are encouraged, so the devs can create the best experience for all. Better yet, new classes, world expansions, weapons, and even Gods are being added over time. Episode #7 of the Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel Dev Diary has the complete road map to Version 1.0, so you can get a taste of what’s to come!
