We are back with our monthly Indie Showcase, where we pick one of the many recently produced gems by independent game developers and make sure it gets some well-deserved time in the sun. For October (aka, officially spoopy season), we are taking a closer look at the witchy… REKA!
What is REKA?
REKA is an exploration and crafting game developed by Emberstorm Entertainment and published by Fireshine Games. You play as Reka, an apprentice witch to the legendary Baba Jaga on a journey to master her witchcraft.
Using your magic, craft, explore, and forge your path through procedurally generated landscapes. There are quests to take on and you can even tame the wildlife. Every witch needs her familiar, right?
Set deep in autumnal woods (all the witchy vibes, love it), you must build, decorate, and customise your enchanted cottage – a safe haven in this sometimes dark world. No game about Bab Jaga is complete without an ambling, chicken-legged cottage!
REKA Early Access
Currently, REKA is in early access. The small dev team of four are using this feature to help playtest and develop REKA into the best game for its community. The early access version only features the story’s prologue and first chapter, with the remaining chapters becoming available upon full release. At the moment, this is just slated for 2025.
During early access, the dev team plans to add new content, areas, recipes, quests, and more with each update, in addition to working on any bugs or issues that arise. If you want to get involved in the REKA community, they have an active Discord server and an aptly named “suggestion-cauldron” channel for feedback.
