Designed in conjunction with Daniel Hansen of DAN Cases, the Lian Li DAN Cases A3-mATX is the perfect combination of looks and function. Featuring a minimalist aesthetic, these cases are available in black and white finishes, with two models integrating stylish and functional front wooden panels! What’s more, this Micro-ATX case boasts impressive capabilities for a case so small, you’re going to want to get round to building that dream SFF gaming PC straight away.
A TARDIS of a Case
Now it’s not quite the Doctors’ mind-bending spaceship time machine, but, the Lian Li DAN Cases A3-mATX comes as close as possible without breaking the physical laws of the universe.
The A3-mATX is a Micro-ATX chassis, which means it is smol, and perfect to fit on or under the most compact desks. This case stands at just 321.5mm tall, or 306mm if you take off its feet. Furthermore, it is 194mm wide, and 443mm deep. For context, an Xbox Series X is 301mm tall, with a width and depth of 151mm.
This compact size, however, does not mean there isn’t space for all your favourite gaming hardware. In fact, the A3-mATX has a spectacular 26.3L capacity chamber, along with a GPU clearance of 415mm. More than enough for even an NVIDIA RTX 4090!
Plus, you can easily keep all this hardware nice and cool. The Lian Li DAN Cases A3-mATX case boasts three sides of high airflow steel mesh panels. Perfect for giving your components plenty of access to fresh air. What’s more, you can create optimum airflow through the case as there are mounting points for ten, yes ten, 120mm fans! Three can be installed at the top, side, and bottom of the case, along with space for a single fan on the rear panel.
More Than Meets the Eye
So, I’ve gone from Dr Who to Transformers, but I think this case can comfortably fit into both niches. This little case is a marvel of customisation, with multiple layouts. *Checks notes* I count 35 possible configurations depending on what hardware you choose.
The PSU is one of the driving forces that determines how you choose to spec out a PC in the Lian Li DAN Cases A3-mATX case. A power supply is a necessity, but to be honest, they can take up a large amount of space. The A3-mATX gets around this by having multiple mounting points for them.
The first place you can install a PSU is at the front of the case, but it’s not a fixed position. In fact, the A3-mATX has five points that can be used to mount a PSU here. The second place for a PSU is on the side, which has five levels where you can pop a power supply.
Now these locations also serve a secondary purpose, that being storage. Wherever you choose to place your PSU, you can utilise the other location to mount a removable drive tray. On this tray, you can install two 2.5″ SSDs which. There is also an additional mounting point on the bottom of the case for either a 2.5″ SSD or 3.5″ HDD, for a total of up to three drives.
Come on Vogue (vogue)
Well, it might not be as flashy as Madonna, but the Lian Li A3-mATX certainly has style. This case has that minimalist aesthetic that means that it will perfectly fit into any gamer’s setup. It’s the PC case equivalent to a fashionista’s little black dress, it’ll go with anything. Except this one is available in classic black or elegant white.
The standout feature of the A3-mATX is the front panel. On two of the three options available, this is a solid plastic panel with a sleek geometric pattern. This gives the case a unique look, almost as if slats were layered over a base plate.
Meanwhile, the Wooden Edition cases are equipped with funnily enough, a wooden front panel. With these models, the geometric pattern is created by layering wooden slats over a fine mesh. This adds a touch of warmth as well as another avenue for the case to access fresh air.
One Step Beyond
Lian Li may not have given this case some baggy trousers, but they have given you a way to take the blues away. In addition to the A3-mATX, they have released two accessories engineered for this case.
The first is a phenomenal vertical GPU mounting kit. Using this bracket and riser cable combo, you can display your prized graphics card front and center in the Lian Li DAN Cases A3-mATX case. The bracket is compatible with any 3-slot card, and the 150mm PCIe Gen 4 riser cable allows you to enjoy peak performance from your GPU.
Now that mesh might look good, but we can do better. The second accessory is a tempered glass side panel to replace the left mesh panel. The crystal-clear finish gives you an uninterrupted view inside the A3-mATX chassis, meaning you can enjoy the full effect of your build’s aesthetics. It must be love, love, love.
