The Lian Li Edge PSU at first glance may look a bit odd, but there’s method behind the madness. Once you stop drooling over its looks, you’ll find that the Lian Li Edge is a phenomenal choice for powering your dream gaming PC.

A Groundbreaking Layout

The Lian Li Edge Series of PSUs boasts an innovative new approach to power supply design. With its unique L-shape, the power outlets are moved away from the main body of the PSU, offering a new way to make cable management easier and cleaner!

All the ports that would normally be on the side of the case are now located in their own little housing. This is a more efficient system and makes cable installation much easier – even when the PSU is mounted.

Moving the ports obviously changes how your cables will interact with your power supply. Instead of coming out the side and making a harsh bend, your cables will now directly travel to your components without needing to be kinked. This helps protect your cables from wear and tear. Plus, it looks much cleaner.

New Design, Same Great Performance

A PSU needs to supply power, and the Edge is fantastic at doing this. There are three models available: 850W, 1000W, and 1300W. You are covered, no matter the power requirements of your PC.

All these power supplies are phenomenally efficient. In fact, they have been certified as Platinum by 80 PLUS, Cybernetics, and PPLP. All of which show that this PSU is around 91-92% efficient when under a 50% load.

This efficiency offers almost zero waste. As nearly all the electricity this PSU draws from the mains is converted into useful power, little heat is produced. The Edge is equipped with a powerful 120mm cooling fan, but it may not see much action! When under a light load, the fan is shut off, as passive cooling is all that is required. Only when the power requirements ramp up does the fan kick in to keep everything cool.

Dual-Chamber Focused

The Lian Li Edge’s unique shape is perfectly suited for use in dual-chamber cases, such as the Lian Li O11 Series. This is because you typically mount the PSU vertically in these cases. By mounting the Edge this way, the power ports are easily accessible. Gone will be the days where you must route all your cables first so you can plug them in before mounting your PSU. Simply, plug cables in as you need them!

But if you don’t have a dual-chamber case, don’t worry, the Edge will still work well in a standard PC case. For the best results, you will need to mount the PSU with the fan pointing up, so that it can draw air from the main chamber. This allows your cables to easily exit the power supply straight as an arrow.

You can mount the Edge with the fan pointing down, so that it can draw air through the base of your case. However, your cables will require a bend in this configuration, as the power ports will also be pointing straight down, so you’ll need to account for the extra length required.

What to Do with This Room?

Thanks to the innovative design Lian Li has opted to integrate a highly versatile USB 2.0 hub. Using this, you’ll have five USB 9-pin headers to utilise, one for connecting the hub to your motherboard and four more for USB devices, such as Lian Li UNI FAN cooling fans or Strimer extension cables.

To enable perfect functionality, there are two different USB cables included. The first one is a standard internal cable, so you can connect your Edge PSU USB header to your motherboard.

The second cable is for when you just have no onboard headers at all. Instead, you can connect the hub to one of your motherboard’s rear I/O USB ports. To ensure the USB cable can exit your case cleanly, a replacement PCIe expansion slot cover is included. This features a small cutout that allows a cable to be routed through it and be plugged into the back of the PC for full functionality.
