Who Knew Case Layouts Were Sliding Tile Puzzles?!

Now they may not be to everyone’s taste, including yours truly, but I’m certain those boffins at Lian Li love a sliding tile puzzle. Otherwise, I’m not sure how to explain how they managed to so flawlessly shuffle bits round in the Lancool 207! With these changes, they have managed to cleverly utilise the 45.5l internal capacity of this Micro-ATX case to facilitate larger components than usual.

The first shift of component locations is the PSU, which has moved from the rear, as found in standard cases, to the front. In fact, the PSU now sits directly behind the Lancool 207’s front panel, just below the cooling fans. But don’t worry, the case includes a power extension cable, so you’ll still plug it in at the back like a traditional PC.

With this move, the chamber below the motherboard can be shrunk, which allows for the motherboard tray to also be scooted lower. As a result, you can install a full-sized ATX motherboard or choose to stick with the more traditional Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX motherboards. But that’s not the only change to motherboard positioning; as it’s recessed to minimise any interreference between the board and your cooling hardware. However, this does mean you cannot use a motherboard wider than 244mm.

Master of Cooling

PPLP Labs Award

Many Lian Li cases boast outstanding cooling performance, and the Lancool 207 is no exception. In fact, it even received an award for its cooling capabilities. – the PPLP Lab’s Level-S Chassis Performance award for thermal management! The case received this award, thanks to maintaining an Intel i9-13900K, 2 degrees cooler than PPLP’s control setup.

The Lian Li’s Lancool 207’s exceptional design emphasises cooling. The front, top and PSU chamber’s side panel feature highly porous steel mesh. These deliver ample access to cool air to your hardware, whilst also blocking large debris from entering your PC.

To facilitate airflow, the Lancool 207 boasts mounting points for up to eight fans to be installed simultaneously. What’s more, it comes with four high-performance fans pre-installed. Two 140mm are located at the front, each of which is 30mm thick for exceptional performance, delivering airflow of 109.3CFM at a static pressure of 3.3mmH2O. Above the PSU chamber are two 25mm thick 120mm fans, each producing 71.1CFm of airflow at a static pressure of 1.99mmH2O. Even better, these fans are perfectly positioned to channel cool air directly into your GPU, for maximum thermal performance.

In addition to these four fans, there is room for a 120mm fan to be installed on the back panel. Finally, at the top of the case, you can opt for either two 140mm or three 120mm fans, as well as either a 280mm or 360mm radiator. Plus, with the motherboard’s unique position, you can combine all this hardware using a 360mm radiator with up to six 120mm fans in a push/pull configuration. Safe to say, you can install a powerhouse CPU, and it’ll be kept nice and cool under any load.

Clean and Secure

With its smaller size, there is not much left up to the imagination with the Lancool 207. All your hardware is front and center, so you want it to look its best, don’t you? Well don’t worry, that is easy to accomplish with this chassis.

Different positions for the GPU bracket

Now that your GPU is looking its best, we can enhance the rest of your case by minimising visible cables. With its innovative PSU position, cable management has never been easier. Many of your cables will be routed up behind the front panel, without having to cross over the motherboard tray, as may be required in a standard layout. The only exception being your CPU power which will pass along the top of the tray. To keep your wires organised, there are three triple Velcro straps to gather them into easy managed groups. Even better, any excess cable can be gathered and hidden in the cavity under the motherboard tray.
