The hunt continues with Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak! It feels like only yesterday this game finally made it to PC after starting life on the Nintendo Switch. Now Capcom has got a new adventure for us to enjoy without making either platform wait. We are feline good about this one!
Whether you’ve been eagerly anticipating this release all year or this is the first you are hearing of it, Overclockers UK has got you covered. We’ll go over everything you need to know about Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak as well as some great gaming PCs suited for every hunt.
What is Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak?
Let’s clear things up as the litany of names present in this franchise might have confused you. Sunbreak is an expansion to Monster Hunter Rise, the sixth installment in the series. It is available as downloadable content for the main game, but not as a standalone title. That means you need to own Rise to play Sunbreak. It also means you will be carrying on the story and your character from the former and getting to see more of the world beyond Kamura Village.
Save a Distant Kingdom From a Terrible Threat
After the events of Monster Hunter Rise, your Hunter now bears the title of “Fierce Flame of Kamura”. Now, you have been called to travel across the sea to a distant kingdom facing a fearsome threat. You’ll set up shop in Elgado Outpost, which will become your base of operations for your new adventure in this action RPG.
It won’t take long for you to learn the cause of the abnormal events. A trio of terrible monsters known as the Three Lords is to blame. Taking down these three will be your primary goal as you explore this massive new area. Take on new enemies and old foes from the Monster Hunter series making their return.
Deeper Gameplay and New Characters
More of the same is not necessarily a bad thing when it comes to the dynamic hunting action of Monster Hunter Rise, but that’s not what Sunbreak delivers. For starters, your trusty Wirebug will return more useful than ever with Morphed Wirebugs. In addition, all 14 weapon types boast brand-new abilities, bringing more depth and flexibility to your hunts.
As well as augmenting your arsenal, Sunbreak gives you a new base of operations in the Elgado Outpost. This home away from home is filled with new locals for you to interact with and charming personalities for you to fall for. Some of them will call on your skills as a hunter to aid them. Others may surprise you and be the ones who come to help you!
When Can I Play Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak?
This expansion has been available since June 30th 2022. You can download Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak now and play it on PC and Nintendo Switch, but you can only access the new content after you complete the 7-star Hub quest “Serpent Goddess of Thunder”.
Not content with just providing a massive DLC, Sunbreak had scheduled updates throughout 2022 and 2023, adding yet more monsters for you to hunt!
