Last week Team17 Digital announced the launch date for their upcoming Black Comedy Slasher-Adventure, Killer Frequency.
Set in a small-town US radio station, Killer Frequency will take to the airwaves later this summer on PC, consoles, and VR. Last week Team17 Digital announced Killer Frequency will see a simultaneous release on PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox, meaning console player can tune in too.
“Folks, you heard it here. We’ve got a killer on the streets of Gallows Creek tonight. For now, heres another hit record for you all to enjoy.”
Based in a 1980s Midwestern US town with a serial killer on the loose, Killer Frequency places players into the role of Forrest Nash, a washed-up DJ and presenter of late-night show ‘The Scream’. You’ll need to stay on air and take control of the switchboard as you explore an authentic 80s radio studio all the while guiding the fates of your late-night listeners.
As you take calls from potential victims, you’ll need to gather clues, make decisions, and solve puzzles to help each caller survive the night. With every caller able to live or die, making the right decision is the difference between guiding your listeners to safety or broadcasting their final moments live on air.
To unmask the killer, players will have to interact with a variety of larger-than-life personalities in the form of callers, potential suspects, and our charismatic producer all whilst jamming to a jukebox of 1980s inspired tunes.
“We’re now in the midnight hour and you’re listening to 189.16, The Scream…”
Coming To VR: Breachers
Flatscreen and VR
Killer Frequency has been built from the ground-up for the Meta Quest 2 with a 72 frames-per-second and latency free experience.
In addition to a VR launch, Team17 Digital have confirmed the game will launch with a flatscreen version available on PC and console.
Tune In To Save Lives! PC Spec
PC, VR, and console players will all be able to take to the airwaves on June 1st. If you’re just as excited as we are to step into this 1980s radio station, you’ll be happy to know the PC requirements aren’t crazy high. However, we suspect these specs are for the non-VR version of the game.
