Hot off the press – the NVIDIA RTX 5090 has been circulating through the rumour mill since the beginning of 2024. We’re still waiting for an official 5000 series announcement from NVIDIA, but there’s plenty of tasty tidbits and rumours for us to indulge in while we wait.
Here’s everything we know about the RTX 5090… So far!
RTX 5090 – The Rumoured Specs
Let’s get the boring stuff over first – everything in this post is rumours. There’s been no official confirmation or reveal from NVIDIA themselves, but when they announce the RTX 5090, we’ll be sure to update you.
The NVIDIA 5090 is set to be built upon Blackwell architecture, boasting a whopping 21,760 CUDA cores, to deliver an expected 50-70% uplift in performance compared to the RTX 4090. With speeds rumoured to range from 2235MHz to 2520MHz, the 5090 RTX will truly facilitate blisteringly quick performance while rendering and other graphical-intensive tasks such as video editing, 3D imaging, and more. Plus, the expected 32GB GDDR7 video memory and 512-bit interface delivers maximum efficiency across all those multi-threaded applications, while the suite of integrated tech such as G-Sync and DLSS ensures superior responsiveness, zero screen tearing, and minimal latency.
As a result, it’s no surprise the RTX 5090 has a focus on professionals rather than gaming enthusiasts. Especially when the rumoured price for this GPU is expected to be more than $2,000.
Thankfully, NVIDIA appears to have also taken onboard initial criticism seen with the RTX 40 Series. The NVIDIA 5090 has been designed from the ground up with improved thermals to mitigate the issues first seen with the 4090, and the included 16-pin connector will supply more than enough power to handle the rumoured 600W TDP. However, while the 5090 RTX requires 150W more than its 40 Series counterpart, it does feature a much slimmer form factor.
