Kolink Observatory Duo ARGB and Inspire K12 ARGB PC Cases

We love a good Kolink product launch here at Overclockers UK. Today, we are very excited for three new products joining the Kolink line-up.

Kolink Observatory Duo ARGB and Inspire K12 ARGB PC Cases

There are three new Kolink products we’re going to be talking about today. The Observatory Duo ARGB Mid-Tower PC Case, Inspire K12 ARGB Mid-Tower PC Case, and Core Adept 24-pin ARGB Power Adapter. Each bears the signature Kolink blend of vibrant RGB lighting and functionality. If you’re in the market for a new PC case or want to level up your cable management, then grab a cuppa and read on!

Kolink Observatory Duo

The Kolink Observatory Duo is the latest to join the Observatory Series. You may recall its iconic brethren, the Observatory Z and Y AMD Special Edition. This range of PC cases often release as a pair – one focused on airflow, whilst the other prioritises aesthetics. The Observatory Duo looked at that and said, “Why not both?”

This chassis has four pre-installed Kolink Umbra S ARGB/PWM 120mm fans, with three placed on the front and the last upon the rear. Already ticking that airflow box. On top of this, you can choose between two front panels, straight out of the box. Want to optimise airflow? Opt for the mesh panel, which will enhance air drawn into the case as well as let the RGB lighting shine through. Making a statement? Then choose the tempered glass panel, for a true showcase display. The choice is yours, and there’s nothing stopping you from swapping them around at later date.

As for hardware, the interior has been intelligently crafted to support a wide variety of form factors, the latest generation of tech, and a dual-radiator water-cooling system. Do you get why it’s called the Observatory Duo now? Here is a quick breakdown of just what this chassis can support.

Observatory Duo Hardware Support

  • Motherboard: This chassis offers nearly no restrictions on popular motherboard form factors. The backplate can accommodate a range of motherboards from Mini-ITX up to E-ATX.
  • GPU: You have two options for graphics card clearance. With fans mounted on the front panel, there is clearance for GPUs up to 330mm long. However, should you omit fans from that location, this space increases to 360mm. Alternatively, fans can be mounted underneath the front panel to support both enhanced airflow and a 360mm GPU. (We recommend using the mesh panel for this config!) More than enough space for most graphics cards on the market right now!
  • Fans: As mentioned, there are four fans already installed. An Umbra Core ARGB controller is also included, so you can adjust fan speeds and lighting with ease. There are alternative mounting options to explore. The front holds either three 120mm or two 140mm fans. Upon the top, two fans of either size can be accommodated. As we know, the rear supports a singular 120mm, but the cheeky bonus is that the PSU shroud has mounts for two additional 120mm fans!
  • Radiators: Naturally, radiator mounting follows closely in line with how many fans each panel can support. Therefore, there is space for up to 360mm radiators on the front, 280mm on the top, and a 120mm on the rear of the case. Whether opting for an AIO, custom, or air CPU cooler, there is 170mm clearance for this hardware.
  • PSU: In addition to fan mounts, the PSU shroud is ventilated with iconic Kolink hexagonal cut-outs. Stylish and functional! This shroud can support power supplies up to 180mm in length.
  • Storage: There are four storage drive bays in the Observatory Duo. Two are equipped with toolless installation, able to host either two 2.5” SSDs or 3.5” HDDs. The others are removable SSD trays, located on the back of the motherboard plate. As you would expect, these are designed for 2.5” SSDs.
  • I/O Panel: Facilitating all your connectivity needs, the I/O features two USB 3.1, one USB 2.0, an HD audio jack, and power buttons. It has been side-mounted to simplify cable management.

Kolink Inspire K12

The Kolink Inspire Series has been all about aesthetics and RGB. The Inspire K12 is the first to prioritise airflow, whilst still featuring beautiful lighting of course.

This chassis comes with one Kolink Umbra S ARGB/PWM 120mm fan, mounted on the rear panel, and two stylish ARGB LED strips on the front. Both can be synced and controlled using the reset button or via a compatible motherboard software. The lighting strips are placed centrally on the front panel and are surrounded by mesh for enhanced airflow. Cooling may be the priority, but this is still a damn fine case to look at!

Now we’ve established the Inspire K12 is beautiful with enhanced airflow, it’s time to tackle the hardware it supports. Once again, this chassis has been crafted to support an extensive range of hardware that’s currently available. Here’s that all-important breakdown.

Inspire K12 Hardware Support

  • Motherboard: The Inspire K12 accommodates Mini-ITX, Micro-ATX, and ATX form factor motherboards.
  • GPU: Offering support for a great variety of graphics cards, there is 330mm clearance supported by seven PCIe expansion slots.
  • Fans: As there is only one pre-installed fan on this chassis, there is plenty of flexibility when it comes to creating your thermal solution. The front panel can hold either three 120mm or 140mm fans, whilst the top panel support up to two fans of each size. This chassis also has two 120mm fan mounts on the ventilated PSU shroud, as well as space for the singular 120mm fan on the rear panel.
  • Radiators: For water-cooling, this chassis has two options for mounting radiators. The front panel accommodates up to 360mm long radiators, whilst the top panel can support slim 280mm models. CPU coolers can be up to 160mm tall.
  • PSU: The ventilated PSU shroud can host a power supply up to 180mm long. There is ample cable routing woven into the motherboard backplate, facilitating efficient management. Perhaps you could even elevate your cable aesthetic to match your lighting effects!
  • Storage: The Inspire K12 has the same storage solution as the Observatory Duo. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
  • I/O Panel: The I/O panel on the Inspire K12 is also side-mounted, creating easier cable routing and management. This features two USB 2.0, one USB 3.1, HD audio, and power buttons.

The Kolink Core Adept 24-pin 90-degree ARGB Power Adapter is a game-changer. Especially for small form factor builds and cases with awkward cable management. This dinky doohickey acts as a bridge between your 24-pin motherboard power cable and its port. The 90-degree adapter makes it easier for you to plug in this power cable, and the ARGB lighting provides a dazzling splash of colour to boot!

To enable the ARGB lighting, simply connect the 3-pin 5V header to your motherboard and control with a compatible software. Hey presto! You have elevated aesthetics and functionality. This is why we love Kolink launches.
