You love gaming. We love gaming. So, we’ve put together the official OcUK Must-Play PC Games Ultimate List!
From unexpected hits to absolute classics, there are plenty of must-play PC games out there. So many, in fact, we couldn’t possibly list them all in one blog! Our ultimate list will highlight a few games, broken down by genre of course, and we will be updating it regularly, so all the must-play games get their day in the sun!
Overclockers UK Must-Play PC Games:
Action-Adventure: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
The original three Indiana Jones films have a special place in our hearts. If you are a fan of the franchise, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is like stepping into one of the classic films – only this time you’re Indy! From its beautiful level design to story rich gameplay, this game hits all the right notes – especially if you’re playing with an RTX-compatible graphics card. You can trot the globe with high-definition visuals and realistic lighting, all without leaving your home.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is packed with the dry wit and humour we love from the films. Paired with the dynamic levels and combat, you can create some funny gameplay like fighting off enemies with a guitar. Plus, can we also just take a moment to appreciate how well Troy Baker recreates the Indiana Jones voice?
Oh, and did I mention Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is on Xbox Games Pass?
Life Sim: The Sims 4
It’s fair to say that The Sims is a genre-defining game. We’ve all spent too many hours building the perfect house, deleting ladders from swimming pools, and staying up to the wee hours making a friend the night before work just to cinch that promotion. (If only it was that easy IRL!)
The Sims 4 has built on all the things we loved about the original game (and subsequent sequels) and given us so much more. Moodlets, angled furniture placement, near-endless expansions and kits, new hobbies, school years, and exciting careers – I’ve barely scratched the surface! With extensive customisation options for your Sim, the furniture, and building, from cradle to grave you can live your best life (or most unhinged, let’s face it). Just be sure to make your other Sims high-five Death on the way out.
The only way The Sims 4 could be better is if they bring back the auto-roof tool from The Sims 2. I still can’t make my roofs look normal and I need this feature!
City Builder: Manor Lords
Manor Lords is an early access strategy city builder that saw some crazy anticipation! Three million people had it wishlisted on Steam prior to its launch in April 2024. For good reason, too. Manor Lords offers an impressive sandbox platform for you to organically build your medieval city, using historically accurate architecture from 14th century Franconia. This dedication to accuracy has informed the gameplay mechanics and visuals, creating immersive gameplay as your city expands.
You have to defend your homestead too, with proper medieval warfare. Train your soldiers and defend your land in real-time combat that takes factors such as fatigue and weather conditions into consideration. Even if you win the battle, every fallen soldier is a loss for your city, so you must expertly manage your resources to keep your city thriving.
As Manor Lords is in early access still, there are regular and fairly comprehensive updates. The latest patch will bring new maps, building updates, and an overhaul to the market system.
Roguelite: Hades
Hades hits different. The mix of Greek mythology, satisfying hack and slash combat, beautiful artwork, and replayability baked into the game design makes this one hell of a roguelite. (Get it, hell.) We simply cannot get enough. When you play through the character-driven story and experience the ever-shifting Underworld, it’s easy to see why Hades garnered so many Game of the Year awards.
Exploring colourful worlds with a larger-than-life, fully voice acted cast is a great way to spend your spare time. Hades’ compelling narrative will keep you hooked as you desperately try to break free from the god of death, himself.
Plus, any game that lets you pet the dog is S-Tier.
3D Platformer: LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
There is no denying, LEGO games have some serious special sauce that make them brilliant. They are hilarious and offer their own brand of tactile LEGO joy, despite being entirely digital. Best of all, they expertly recreate the story and worlds of beloved IPs into expansive 3D platformers. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is no different.
This game ties together all nine films from the Skywalker Saga into an open world packed with iconic Star Wars locations to explore. The platforming levels let you relive each episode like never before and offer incredible replayability, hiding certain sections behind character skills and abilities that you won’t unlock until later. (I cannot tell you how many times I had to replay the pod racer level to find the last mini kit!)
Wield a lightsaber, use the dark side of the force, and fly the Millennium Falcon – LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is a fresh and fun way to relive Episodes I through IX.
