Our ‘PC Modding with OcUK’ series is back with our next instalment.
In this blog post, we’re covering noise dampening, everything you need to know from the pros and cons, to our top noise dampening kits.
Noise Dampening:
A noise dampening kit is typically built utilising high-quality materials, such as plush foam or PU leather, to effectively dampen any excess noise created by your PC components. This is especially effective on drowning out any audible noise from your hard drives or fans.
Your hard drives, for example, feature integrated moving parts to store and access your data. These moving parts can be noisy, creating vibrations which are often amplified by your chassis. Thankfully, noise dampening kits absorb any excess sound, for a near-silent operation.
The kits are often custom-made to specifically suit a variety of different PC cases and are easy to install thanks to the self-adhesive backing. It’s as simple as peeling off and sticking the noise dampening material in the relevant place, as per the included instructions/diagram.
Pros & Cons of Noise Dampening:
Advantages:
- Drastically reduces noise
- Easy to install thanks to the adhesive backing
Disadvantages:
- Can affect temperatures
- Can make cable management a challenge – all depends on where the noise dampening is installed.
