Red Dead Redemption 1 IS Coming to PC!

Early August 2024, the internet was rife with leaks about Red Dead Redemption 1 coming to PC. Well, rumour confirmed! Red Dead Redemption is now available to play PC from October 29th 2024

Red Dead Redemption 1 IS Coming to PC!

Until now, Red Dead Redemption could not be found on Steam or Epic Games libraries, whilst the sequel originally launched on PC alongside console. Looks like we don’t have to be salty about that anymore, as Rockstar Games officially announced the launch date via X (formerly known as Twitter) on October 8th 2024. We’ve got a breakdown of the original rumour that sparked our hype, the PC-specific features we can expect, and some great PCs to play on.

What is Red Dead Redemption?

ICYMI, Red Dead Redemption is the western series from Rockstar, of GTA fame. Set in turn of the century America, you play as a former outlaw, John Marston, who is forced by the long arm of the law to hunt down his old gang members. Your travels take you across American desert land, partaking in gun-slinging adventures, betrayal, triumph, and tragedy. Plus, with an open world map and plenty of side quests, you can live out all your cowboy fantasies.

Coming Soon to a PC Near You?

While it has been officially confirmed that Red Dead 1 is coming to PC, we can thank an eagle-eyed Redditor for getting our hopes up. They spotted in an updated “Game and Legal Info” text on the PlayStation Store page that read:

Featuring the complete single-player experiences of both games, including bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition, Red Dead Redemption features all of the 2023 console version upgrades plus PC specific enhancements including support for increased resolutions and framerates, multiple displays, and other accessories, plus spatial surround sound.

Spicy stuff!

The information was live on the PlayStation Store for several hours, but eventually removed. Not before sparking the hopes of PC gaming Red Dead fans everywhere!

Red Dead Redemption on PC

It was already exciting enough that Red Dead Redemption was coming to PC, but the game is actually a twofer! Available on Steam, Epic Games, and the Rockstar Store, this game includes the complete single player experiences for Red Dead Redemption, Undead Nightmare, and bonus content from the GotY Edition. Tasty.

Better yet, this PC port has a whole bunch of PC enhancements to optimise your gameplay. Truly, Rockstar, you spoil us. This includes native 4K at up to 144Hz, Ultrawide (21:9) and Super Ultrawide (32:9), HDR10 support, and even full mouse and keyboard functionality. Whether you’re Team Green or Team Red, you can game with silky smooth frame rates thanks to NVIDIA DLLS and AMD FSR upscaling integration
