Shure has been a long-standing name in the audio industry, with nearly 100 years’ experience to their name. You can see why we’re so excited to be adding them to our gaming set-ups! Crystal clear audio, warm and immersive soundscapes, and the peace of mind that comes with premium quality production. Audiophiles, streamers, content creators, and everything in between, there is a great Shure product for you hitting the Overclockers UK shelves!
Shure
Shure is a brand name you’re sure to have heard at some point. Their innovative microphones have been dominating the music industry since the 1930s. From their iconic Model 55 Unidyne to the incredibly recognisable studio microphone, it’s likely you’ve even crossed paths with them before. Have a nosey at the microphone next time you brave karaoke night!
First founded in 1925, Shure started out as a one-man-band selling AM radio kits and components. Over the next nearly 100 years, this company would expand, innovate, and work to the global standard for audio. Heck, they even won a Technical GRAMMY in 2003 for their outstanding contributions of technical significance within the recording industry.
Shure’s goal is to create more than just good sound. Armed with Shure hardware, your gaming soundscapes will be immersive, your favourite bops will hit all the right notes, and anything you create will be top tier. Mission accomplished, we reckon.

The eagle-eyed among you may have noticed I said “five microphones” but then only listed three. I can count, I promise you. The Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone is available as a stand-alone product or with either a mini tripod or boom arm. Therefore, technically five mics to peruse. Now for the actual perusing!
The Microphones
Although you might not think it, microphones can be a crucial part of your gaming set-up. Whether your beloved gaming PC doubles up as your work PC or you’re a budding streamer, having a microphone with decent audio quality is going to make all the difference. Your fire ideas will be heard with clarity on conference calls, whilst everything said on stream will be captured beautifully.
Shure MV5C Home Office Microphone
The Shure MV5C Home Office Microphone has been purposely designed to work seamlessly with video conferencing software, such as Teams or Zoom. Whether you work in the office or from home, this microphone will accurately pick up your voice with its cardioid pattern. Co-workers will hear you clearly, whilst background noises from your pets or desk neighbours go unnoticed. Plus, the stand is fully adjustable, allowing you to position the spherical head were it best suits you.
Recommended Use
The MV5C is a great addition to your work from home set up. Its small footprint won’t hog precious desk space and its classic aesthetic goes with any work vibes. What’s more, this dinky microphone connects to your PC via USB making it widely compatible, so if you do have to take it into the office you don’t have to worry about connectivity.
Shure MV5C Home Office Microphone
- USB microphone
- Adjustable
- Desk stand included
- Compatible with Teams and Zoom
- Cardioid pick-up pattern
Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone
As the name might suggest, the Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone is all about vocals. The cardioid pick-up pattern has been laser focussed so this microphone expertly captures your voice with beautiful clarity. Whether podcasting or doing a livestream AMA, every syllable will resonate warmly. Plus, with built-in headphone monitoring, you can keep an ear on everything.
The cylindrical shape makes this microphone ideal for close up recording. With its touch pad controls, you’ll want to keep the MV7 nearby, too! On the microphone, you can adjust volume, mute, or toggle the monitor mode. These can be used to adjust both the microphone and headphone settings by pressing the monitor button. What’s more, you can make all these adjustments and more, utilising the ShurePlus MOTIV desktop app. It should be noted that this can only be used when connected via USB, which brings me to my next point…
The MV7 can be connected via USB or XLR. This makes it a great microphone for professional and home use, alike. What’s more, we do have three models available; the stand-alone with a yoke, the mini tripod, or the boom arm. As such, you can pick the mount that best suits your set-up. Each utilises a 5/8” 27 thread mount, which is widely compatible with other stands.
Recommended Use
The MV7 Podcast Microphone is excellent for streaming and content creation set ups. Record voice overs for animations you create, set up a podcast studio, even lay down some music tracks – this is a versatile microphone that is well suited to a variety of uses.
Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone

- ShurePlus MOTIV app support
- Touch pad adjustments
- Headphone monitoring
- 5/8″ 27 thread mount
Shure SM7B Studio Microphone
Finally for microphones, we have the Shure SM7B Studio Microphone. Once again, this is a versatile little number with a cardioid pick-up pattern, XLR connectivity, and wide frequency range for excellent vocal reproduction. Everything about this microphone has been tailored to create exceptional audio, however you apply it.
Internally, the SM7B has air-suspended shock isolation that all-but eliminates mechanical noise transmission. What’s more, there is electromagnetic shielding that protects the microphone from picking up computer signals. All vocals, no muss. Externally, the microphone grille is covered with a pop filter than can be swapped out for the included windscreen. Both are excellent in up-close recording sessions, protecting your sound from pesky plosives and creating warm, natural tones.
To perfect your sound, there are bass rolloff and presence boost switches that you can toggle. With bass rolloff, lower tones are reduced – which also helps to cancel out certain background hums. Presence boost, on the other hand, creates brighter sounds for mid-range frequencies.
Recommended Use
The Shure SM7B Studio Microphone, understandably, excels in studio settings. However, thanks to being suitable for close-up recordings, this is an ideal microphone for streaming, podcasting, and other creative projects you have lined up.
Shure SM7B Studio Microphone

- Pop filter and windscreen included
- 5/8″ 27 thread mount
- Great for close-up recording
- Cardioid pick-up pattern
Microphone Windscreens
Microphone windscreens are designed to prevent your audio from popping when using plosives. For those unfamiliar with the term, these hard-spoken sounds are produced by stopping airflow and then suddenly releasing the air. In the English language, these are most commonly t, k, and p sounds. On an unprotected microphone, these sounds can distort your audio.
Shure A7WS Windscreen
The Shure A7WS Windscreen designed to be used with the SM7 Series microphones, including the SM7B. Its bulbous shape fits neatly over the microphone grille, once the original pop filter has been detached. Held securing in place by Velcro strips, this windscreen protects your audio from breathy and wind noises.
Shure A7WS Windscreen
- Large windscreen
- Designed for SM7 Series microphones
- Includes Velcro strips
- Easy to install
- Protects from breath noises and plosive sounds
Shure RK345 Windscreen
The Shure RK345 Windscreen is also designed to work with the SM7 Series, the SM7B included. In fact, it is essentially the original pop filter included on the microphone. Comprised of fabric and a plastic ring base, this slots comfortably over the microphone grille to keep your audio pop free and sounding warm. The fabric is fragile; therefore, it is advised you handle it from the plastic ring when removing or attaching.
Shure RK345 Windscreen
- Small pop filter windscreen
- Designed for SM7 Series microphones
- Protects audio from plosive sounds
- Easy to install
- Slots over microphone grille
