Street Fighter VI is Now on PC and We Are Pumped

Street Fighter is Capcom’s iconic fighter game, and the latest addition is finally on our gaming PCs. It’s high time we took a look at Street Fighter VI.

Street Fighter VI is Now on PC and We Are Pumped

Released on June 2nd 2023, this game has already received a warm welcome after much anticipation for its arrival. We are ready to punch and fight our way through various game modes, with stunning graphics and ultimate move combos.

Street Fighter VI Gameplay

Street Fighter VI promises a new era of gameplay, with smart evolution and stunning innovation. From music to aesthetics, this game is the epitome of street culture, with enhanced graphics to truly bring this game to life. The playable roster includes eighteen colourful and diverse characters, each with their own skill sets to master. Fans of the franchise will see some familiar faces, too, as iconic fighters such as Ken and Chun-Li are included in the line-up. Additional characters are also available with the yearly Character and Ultimate passes. The Year 2 passes add M. Bison, Terry, Mai, and Elena to the roster, as well as extra content like stages and character colours.

There are three main game modes to explore and conquer – solo or with friends, depending on the mode. These are Fighting Ground, World Tour, and Battle Hub

Fighting Ground

Fighting Ground is the classic fighting gameplay, utilising an evolved combat system that is split into three control types: Classic, Modern, and Dynamic. The different modes offer levels of accessibility, depending on your experience with the genre. Classic mode is the standard control set, perfect for veterans that love to execute the perfect input combo. Modern offers simplified controls that negate the need to memorise complicated commands. Dynamic takes this a step further with auto-attack buttons, that perform attacks and combos based on where your character is standing in relation to your opponent. Understandably, this control type cannot be used in online fights.

Go head-to-head and fill up your Drive Gauge, a new engine that manages your energy resources. Whilst it does automatically replenish, if you run it too low, then you’ll suffer the consequences of burnout. You need to balance big attacks and being conservative to truly dominate in battle.

There are other features to enjoy within this mode, such as real-time commentary to hype your matches and Character Damage. With this on, your character will show damage to their face, body, and clothes as the battle progresses. What’s more, there are great sound accessibility features to help players understand the battle a little easier. Different sound effects indicate fighter distance, high-, mid-, or low-attacks, and how full your gauge is.

World Tour

Next, we have World Tour, the immersive, single-player story mode. This takes you beyond the fights and into a rich, detailed world – with the question “what is strength?” motivating you along the way. Your first stop is Buckler Security, where you are taken through basic training by one of the roster characters, Luke. From there, your travels will take you through a series of trials, challenges, and battles in streets across the world.

You play with your own customisable avatar, which can be built to your exact needs. You even have the option to set “neck length”, so no detail is too small! The gear you buy can have an effect on your abilities or be used solely for the aesthetic. Get your avatar looking on point! What’s more, as you learn under legendary fighters, you can mix and match your move sets to craft a truly unique fighter. As you fight and gain experience around the world, you’ll level up and receive skill points, to be spent in the skill tree and unlock special moves.

As you’re exploring the streets of cities in Italy, the US, and beyond, you can seamlessly challenge denizens with combat knowledge. Simply press a button and the street becomes your arena – complete with on-lookers cheering you on. What’s more, there are items, rewards, and mini-games to discover on your travels.

The best detail, I have saved ‘til last. Your avatar, which you develop and hone into a legendary fighter in this mode, can be taken into the Battle Hub.

Battle Hub

Battle Hub is the online centre of Street Fighter VI. Here you can meet up with friends and players from around the world and put your avatars to the test. Compete in Avatar Battles, take part in the arcade-style matches in Battle Cabinet, and even say hello to your fellow fighters with emotes and chat. The Battle Hub can host up to 100 players at time, so there are plenty of gamers to say hello to and challenge to a battle. What’s more, there is a Game Center where you can play classic Capcom arcade games, including earlier Street Fighters!

The Capcom Fighters Network (CFN) can be accessed in Battle Hub, too. This feature has been improved since its debut in Street Fighter V, offering the option to manage your friends, search for other fighters, and watch your sick replays.

The Battle Hub is also where events and tournaments will be held. Real Time Commentary can be switched on for this – for that extra authentic feel!

Is Street Fighter VI Multiplayer?

The Battle Hub mode supports multiplayer gameplay. The Fighters Club allows you to meet up with friends or like-minded fighters. Design an emblem, create a uniform, and rock the Battle Hub in style.

Street Fighter VI is available to play on PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Even better, it has full crossplay support across these platforms, so you can play with your friends no matter what you all game from.
