Kolink Stronghold Prism and Barricade feature image

The Kolink Stronghold line-up is expanding with two – yes, two! – new ATX cases. Introducing the Stronghold Prism and the Stronghold Barricade PC cases. Both are a natural evolution of the Stronghold Overseer, taking on suggestions and improvements from the community. As a result, we now have two beautiful, user-friendly cases with amazing airflow and the option to go full RGB or not. Pretty neat, I think.

Common Features

Both the Stronghold Prism and the Stronghold Barricade share many features which make them outstanding Mid-Tower PC cases. Their main differences lie in aesthetics, whilst the internal structuring and support remain the same. Utilising a steel framework, each of the metal and plastic panels can be removed for easy access to the interior. Plus, the tempered glass side panel is hinged, opening fully when you pull the magnetic tab, to further facilitate accessibility.

Internally, both cases support up to an E-ATX motherboard and all your premium hardware, thanks to the seven expansion slots. Enjoy a graphics card up to 330mm in length, which covers most of the GPUs currently available. There is clearance for a 165mm tall CPU cooler, too. The Stronghold line has room to spare for all your high-end gaming hardware, with internal cable management to keep your case looking sleek.

Keeping Cool

While their fans may differ, both the Prism and the Barricade have been primed for use with AiO coolers. Even loops that feature multiple radiators. Up to a 360mm radiator can be mounted to the front panel, up to a 240mm can go on the top, and up to a 120mm radiator is accommodated on the rear. Paired with the natural airflow from the iconic Kolink hexagonal cut-out style mesh, these cases are going to facilitate some phenomenal thermal performance.

What’s more, the PSU shroud is also ventilated, keeping your power supply (up to 190mm long) performing at optimum temperature. Placed at the bottom of the chassis, the shroud tucks away neatly to prevent cable clutter. Next to it, is the storage drive bay. Able to hold 2 x 2.5” SSDs and 2 x 2.5” or 3.5” HDDs, your storage solution is going to strike that perfect balance between capacity and speed. I’m going to need the drive space for all the pictures I’m going to take of this beauty!

Connected

Finally, both of these PC cases are equipped with a comprehensive I/O. Placed upon the top panel of the chassis, it includes one USB 3.1, two USB 2.0 ports, and one HD Audio jack. Optimising cable management, the ports have been placed to the side of the mesh design. All in all, making the Stronghold Prism and Barricade slick cases.

To RGB…

Making the Prism stand out is the inclusion of vivid RGB lighting. This is achieved thanks to the use of four Kolink Umbra aRGB fans. Each sport 12 LEDs, forming an outer ring, and a further 9 LEDs in a smaller circle, to create some truly dazzling effects. Not just beautiful, these fans are functional too with their nine curved blades and fan speeds of up to 1500RPM.

The lighting can be controlled via your motherboard, connecting utilising 3-pin aRGB headers. Alternatively, a Kolink Core controller is included with the case, offering your comprehensive control at your fingertips.

Or Not to RGB?

For those who prefer something more subtle, the Barricade has no lighting included. Instead, it is equipped with two Kolink Classic PWM fans, with mounting options for more fans. Naturally, you could include some RGB fans, or you could keep it simple, and stick to classic black. These fans have seven curved blades and utilise a hydraulic bearing for smooth performance with incredible reliability.

Despite the lack of RGB, this case also includes the hinged tempered glass side panel, meaning you are free to admire your premium gaming hardware at any time.
