The Ben Nevis Cooler: Optimised Advanced Edition Available for Pre-Order at Overclockers UK Now!

The Ben Nevis Advanced represents a new addition to the portfolio of cooling specialist EKL and their Alpenföhn lineup, as well as a fresh, performance-optimised variant of their highly sought-after cooler. The increased surface area of the cooler, its asymmetric design, and its flat 130 mm PWM fan all combine to offer newcomers and price-to-performance conscious users a compact but quiet cooling solution. The cooler’s installation eschews the need to screw it directly into a backplate and instead opts for attachment to the retention module of the motherboard, thereby allowing the Ben Nevis Advanced unlimited AMD Socket 4 compatibility – as well as compatibility with many more sockets commonly employed by AMD and Intel.

The Features of the Alpenföhn Ben Nevis Advanced

  • 130 mm PWM flat-style fan and tapered design for optimal airflow
  • Volume increased to 95,4 m³/h at 1.500 U/min with a maximum of 25,8 dB(A)
  • Asymmetric heatsink with shock killer pole for safe transport
  • Full compatibility with various current Intel and AMD sockets
  • Four heatpipes with Direct Touch Technology
  • Improved 150 Watt TDP cooling performance

To the Alpenföhn Ben Nevis Cooler

The Advanced Version comes with four 6 mm heatpipes set in direct contact with the CPU’s heatspreader. This enables fast and reliable transfer of exhaust heat even with the usage of standard thermal paste. The Shock Killer Pole, situated in the centre of the cooler, affords the fins of the somewhat larger than average heatsink a degree of additional stability. This has the additional effect of preventing damage from movement and other external forces.

As in the case of the standard Ben Nevis cooler, EKL opts for an asymmetrical construction and a flat build style to ensure optimal memory bank clearance as well as clearance for memory modules with large heatspreaders. The pre-installed fan allows, in conjunction with its tapered design and 4-pin PWM connector, excellent airflow in addition to a significant reduction in noise levels.
