The nostalgia factor is strong with this game drop. It has to be roughly twenty years since I last thought about them, but Hot Wheels: UNLEASHED has got my inner 90s kid hyped.
I used to love watching those epic, tiny cars zoom across that iconic, orange track. Did I grow up wanting a car with go-faster flames? Yes, yes I did. Whilst the car I drive lacks flaming motifs, I can now at least zip around elaborate races thanks to Hot Wheels: UNLEASHED. Today, we’re taking a closer look at gameplay and a few cheeky PC recs for you to explore.
Unleash Extreme Driving
Hot Wheels: UNLEASHED sees you racing across those famous orange tracks, in the most beautifully detailed playgrounds. There are six environments to explore, and each track is absolutely massive with intricate loops reaching every corner. From a garage with giant spiders to an entire skyscraper, you will have immersive and thrilling tracks to conquer.
Plus, you can build your own racetracks. Start with a simple piece then bend, twist, and stretch it to make completely custom and unique environments. Jumps, loops, and over 20 interactive modules can be added to your track to bring a splash of chaos. Once you are happy with your masterpiece, you can share it for other Hot Wheel fans to enjoy.
Even better, you can also completely customise your Hot Wheels car and make the toy you always dreamed of having using the Livery Editor. Whether you opt for a sporty car, real-life miniature, or a replica from your favourite film, you can make a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. I’ll take one DeLorean in neon orange, please.

Game of the Year Edition and Additional Content
Since its release, Hot Wheels: UNLEASHED has added new content. This includes three expansion packs, Looney Tunes, Monster Trucks, and Batman. Each brings new vehicles, environments to race around, and themed track modules. Plus, there is a Hot Wheels Pass Vol. 1 which features yet more exclusive content and includes the Batman Expansion pack, too. Monster Trucks was included with Vol. 2, and Looney Tunes with Vol. 3.
Alternatively, you can buy or upgrade to the Game of the Year Edition, which includes all three Passes (and DLCs), along with extra packs and yet more vehicles. If that wasn’t enough content for you, Hot Wheels UNLEASHED 2 – Turbocharged released in October 2023.
Plenty of Hot Wheel racing action to be had!
Is Hot Wheels: UNLEASHED Multiplayer?
Hot Wheels: UNLEASHED has both local and online multiplayer modes. You can race head-to-head in person, or with up to twelve racers online. Plus, it has crossplay between PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Microsoft Store Windows Edition – so you can race against your friends even if you are on different platforms!
