The popularity of the beloved Witcher franchise has grown in the past two years, thanks to the release of the incredible Netflix series. If you’ve not watched season 2 – you are missing out!
As many of us are returning to this beloved series, Overclockers UK has decided to give you an update on what fans can expect in 2022!
Season 3 of the hit Netflix series:
If you are like me, you watched the entire second season the day it dropped on Netflix. Unfortunately for us, however, we’ve now got to try and wait patiently for the third season.
Whilst the shooting of the second season took two years due to the COVID 19 pandemic, it appears that the production team and cast will be returning to the set in March of 2022!
Hopefully (I have every finger and toe crossed), this means we’ll see season 3 being released next year!
The main cast:
Henry Cavill as Geralt of Riva
Freya Allan as Ciri
Anya Chalotra as Yennefer
Joey Batey as Jaskier
Anna Shaffer as Triss Merigold
We can’t expect any major changes to the main cast of the Witcher series. The actors have been amazing at portraying their characters, especially Anya Chalotra and Henry Cavill. This means we can expect to continue to see their incredible portrayals and some nail-biting action. I for one, am definitely expecting some more catchy tunes by the Bard to be released with season 3!
A little slice of fan trivia for you, whilst Henry Cavill is not shooting his scenes, he is a passionate gamer and has even built his own gaming PC! Plus, he’s read the Witcher book series and completed the game!
Next-gen updates for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt:
Announced in 2020, CD Projekt Red released their plans for a next-gen update of the ‘The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt’. Expected in spring of 2022, the update will include;
- Real-time Ray Tracing compatibility!
- DLC (Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine) will be included in the next-gen version. Fans can also expect some content inspired by the Netflix series.
- Any existing owners of the Witcher 3 will receive a free upgrade to the next-gen version.
