The new year is finally here, and with it comes the latest line up of new game releases that will be hitting our online libraries this month.
We’ve picked out our top five for January, highlighting all the key information you need about gameplay and official PC specs. Plus, we’ve also paired these new releases with a cheeky PC and laptop that we think is perfect to play these games!
Portal: Revolution (Mod) – January 5th
Portal: Revolution is a community made mod for Portal 2. Introducing a new story campaign and original characters, the story takes place before the events of Portal 2. Inside the dead and decaying Aperture Science Facility, play as a test subject who has been woken up by a personality sphere named Stirling. Team up with Stirling to help aid him in his mission to find a powerful device and restore Aperture to its former glory.
Along the way, you’ll need to conquer over forty new puzzles. Utilising brand-new game mechanics and, of course, your trusty Portal gun, these puzzles will test your problem-solving skills. Portal: Revolution has been made by the gaming community with a modified version of Portal 2: Community Edition. The mod will require Portal 2 in order to play.

Time Survivors – January 15th
Ever wanted to play a historically inaccurate roguelike before? In Time Survivors, you can do just that! Play as famous faces from throughout history, including Lincoln, Cleopatra, Tesla, and more, as you slay hordes of minions. Set in a variety of eras, such as Medieval and the Stone Age, each historical hero will have their own set of abilities to enhance your fighting style and add a unique touch to your playthroughs.
As you travel through time to defeat these huge hordes of enemies, you’ll also be unravelling a deeper mystery. What’s more, as you progress through the game, you can earn special unlocks including character upgrades or new weaponry, to further increase your chances of victory.

Toy Trains VR – January 16th
Toy Trains is a beautiful VR track-building game in which you can create your own small world. After opening a long-forgotten suitcase from your grandpa’s attic, you rediscover an old childhood toy – a train track. Experience child-like joy all over again as you click together both rails and memories.
Let your imagination run wild, as the land is yours to shape. Create challenges on the tracks, each with multiple possible solutions. Once you’ve solved the problem, the track is yours to decorate with colourful scenery and complex routes. There are no time constraints, no scoring, no stress. Simply sit back, immersive yourself in Toy Trains VR, and enjoy some simple train track building.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown – January 18th
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is an action-packed platformer with a thrilling adventure. Set in a mythical Persian world, the boundaries of space and time are yours to control and manipulate. Play as Sargon, as you wield your Time Powers and platforming skills to defeat time-corrupted enemies and perform epic deadly combos.
The world is full of beautiful landmarks, unique biomes, and lush scenery which you can explore. Solve complex puzzles or quests to find hidden treasures and uncover more secrets about the corrupted world around you.

Tekken 8 – January 25th
Tekken 8 is the next brand-new chapter in the iconic fighting game. Continuing the tragic story of Mishima and Kazama’s world-shaking father and son matches, play as Jin Kazama whose new-found growth, strength, and determination marks a new chapter in this timeless saga. Tekken 8 upholds the same feel and fighting tactics of the original games, but now features huge battle enhancements and destrucable stages.
The redefined character visuals and vivid environments increase your immersion even further to put you at the centre of the fighting action. Plus, in the single-player Arcade Quest mode, you can create your own unique avatar and battle your way through a series of rivals and arcades.
