Developed by The Chinese Room and published by Secret Mode, Still Wakes the Deep launched on June 18th 2024. Still Wakes the Deep is a psychological horror with photo-realistic graphics to really drive the fear home. You play as an oil rig worker in 1975, trapped on the Beira D oil rig off the coast of Scotland. An otherworldly horror is aboard, and the rig is collapsing around you. Can you make it to safety?
Escape the Rig
The power is out. You have no weapon to hand. And there is something on the oil rig. This terrifying and unrelenting foe will hunt you down, if you don’t effectively avoid, distract, or sneak around the authentically re-created and detailed oil rig. A storm is raging outside, parts of the rig are inaccessible due to damage and flooding. If you are to survive and see your family again, you must find a way off.
Armed with only your wits and determination, Still Wakes the Deep features roughly six hours of intensely thrilling gameplay, where one wrong step could be your last.
Live the Horror
Still Wakes the Deep owes its heart-pounding experience to more than just the unnamed horror lurking in the dark. The world-class visuals are incredibly detailed and realistic, paired with a haunting soundtrack by BAFTA award-winning Jason Graves. The Chinese Room posted a mini documentary with the composer and audio team, showing insights into how the soundscape came together.
Even the cast bears some familiar names, with Alec Newman (Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty), Neve McIntosh (Diablo IV), and others bringing the stranded crew to life.
