Cabernet Halloween Update:

Sharpening their fangs in time for Halloween, Party for Introverts, has released a new terrifying trailer in time for spooky season.

Cabernet’s new trailer offers us another glimpse into the upcoming immersive vampiric world awaiting players, showcasing some more gameplay and voice acting. Alongside this new trailer, Party for Introverts has announced voice actor Brain David Gilbert, of Starfield, Adventure Time: and Dimension 20 fame, is set to join Cabernet’s already stacked voice cast. Among the game’s current voice talent are Finlay Christie, Hannah Khalique-Brown, Ben Potter, Sam Retford, and Samantha Béart, who voices Karlach in Baldur’s Gate 3.

In our preview of Cabernet during Steam’s visual novel fest, we fell in love with its sound design, which has clearly been a focus for the developers.

“We feel so lucky that Cabernet is absolutely dripping with incredible voice talent. As an emotion-driven games studio, voice-over has always been a huge pillar for our game’s vision, and we’re thrilled to have the amazing Brian David Gilbert and the rest of our fantastic actors bring our colourful cast of characters to life.” – Arseniy Klishin and Laura Gray – Party for Introverts

Gameplay

Visual novels are an admittedly new genre for me, with this being one of the first I’ve had the chance to play. However, Cabernet is more than just your typical narrative experience. Not only are we treated to some incredible art, but we’re also able to move through the scenes and interact with the world.

It took mere minutes to be captivated by Cabernet. The game’s sound design hits you straight away with an eerie music box-inspired main menu theme. Cabernet’s soundscape really hits the ground running from here.

Distant church bells, a murder of crows cawing, and the rustle of wind seamlessly fade into a sombre piano piece as we’re shown our own grave. It’s here where we’re hit with our first narrative decision, with our mother describing who she thought we would become had we not died. These choices will shape Liza’s knowledge to pass skill checks. After our family toasts our life with some Vodka, once again, the game’s brilliant soundscape comes into its own. A new melancholic piece of music starts as Cabernet’s first voice-acted scene begins introducing us to our character, Liza.

With character sheets, relationships, and more to keep track of Cabernet’s gameplay has a lot to keep us busy. Whether we’re shifting into a bat under the moonlit sky or choosing your next meal you won’t want to miss out on Cabernet.
