Intel is here with an early Christmas present – get ready for Intel Battlemage GPUs!

If you’re in the market for a new graphics card and can’t wait for NVIDIA and AMD’s releases next year, we’ve got the low-down on Intel Battlemage GPUs.

What to Expect from Battlemage

Here’s what we know for certain, Intel’s next generation of discrete GPUs continue to utilise their fantasy themed codenames. Their first generation of graphics cards were named Alchemist, and this new range will be called Battlemage.

We also know that these new GPUs will harness Intel Xe2 architecture. This new architecture replaces the existing Xe-LPG/HPG found in Alchemist GPUs and Meteor Lake mobile CPUs. We know for certain that there is a B580 GPU, that offers clock speeds between 2.6GHz and 2.8GHz. What’s more they are equipped with 12GB of GDDR6 VRAM on a 192-bit bus, operating at 19Gbps. However, rumours also suggest a B570 is likely in the works as well.

Luckily, we’ve already been able to see what Xe2 is capable of, as it is already being utilised in Intel Lunar Lake mobile processors. With Lunar Lake, Intel has opted for a marked uptick in efficiency, over raw performance power, whilst also delivering improvements on their ray tracing capabilities. This is a good indication of what Intel is aiming for with Battlemage.

When Can We Expect to See Battlemage?

As already mentioned, we have pre-orders for the Intel ARC B580 Battlemage GPU. Shipping is likely to begin in mid-December, but this is currently an estimate.
