Solid Flagship Laptop
by Chris AFirst of all, I decided on this laptop in particular as after scouring the internet for 4090 laptops, this one is definitely the most bang-for-buck model I have found. Usage: I have been using this laptop almost daily for the past two months, and pretty much 24/7 nonstop, for the past month. Mostly for content consumption, gaming, and playing music on my room set-up 24/7. Being able to set the battery charge limit to 60% in MSI Center is a really cool feature for prolonging battery life. Performance: It is very fast, and I mean this laptop is factory overclocked, and according to 3dmark, puts this laptop at around the top 20% of 4090 laptops. I play all my games at 1440p + max settings, and this laptop always delivers >120FPS in all titles I play. The 240hz panel is amazing - very smooth with lovely colour accuracy. Cooling: The cooling is superb. Even at max fan speed, the fans are very tolerable, and do not produce a high-pitched whine. I have put this through 3dmark, Cinebench, various games, and the 4090 GPU usually sits around 65c when gaming, rarely goes past 75c, and stays under 85c for the most intense games. The 13980HX runs quite warm. Do not be alarmed; as this is expected and is by Intel's design. Ergonomics: Strong display hinge and one-finger lid opening - check. Good keyboard - great typing feel for a laptop with multiple lighting options. The glass trackpad is massive and lovely, which isn't often found in windows gaming notebooks. The rear power adapter + I/O slot is a nice touch. Improvements?: An OLED display and an aluminium unibody, or even just an aluminium top would have been amazing. Although to be fair, that might put this laptop in the >£4000 price range. In conclusion, this is a very solid performer especially with the £2,999 price tag. I honestly cannot think of more ways this could be improved without going significantly past this price point.
