If you’re considering an NVIDIA RTX 40 Series GPU, you’ll need to take into consideration their large dimensions. There are several considerations to take into account when choosing a case for a 40 Series GPU. First and foremost, is if there is enough space within the main chamber to accommodate an NVIDIA RTX 40 Series graphics card. The Founders Editions GPUs have dimensions of 304mm x 137mm (L x W) and occupy three expansion slots. With that said, many of the graphics cards from NVIDIA’s partners will require up to four expansion slots.
The second consideration to take into account is that you may require extra space for other components such as large, high-wattage power supplies and even oversized cable routing options. NVIDIA advises that for the RTX 4090 you’ll require a PSU with a minimum output of 850W. Alongside this, the 40 Series cards will require extra power connectors. The RTX 4090 and 4080 Founders Editions in particular require three PCIe 8-pin cables or a 450W+ PCIe Gen 5 cable.
Finally, increased ventilation requirements. The case you choose should have plenty of access to fresh air to help keep your graphics card running at peak performance. Furthermore, you’ll need to provide sufficient clearance around the GPU for its fans to have access to that air.
