Decent price, kept me updated with progress, well packed (and they chucked in some sweeties!) and good delivery. Great service overall.Read on Google
Discover a wide selection of phenomenal DDR5 motherboards in a variety of form factors, from brands including ASUS, MSI ASRock, and Gigabyte. DDR5 motherboards feature either an Intel LGA 1700 or AMD AM5 socket. With a DDR5 motherboard, you can enjoy superior performance, such as higher bandwidth and data transfer rates. Speeds start at 4800MT/s, with some modules capable of reaching in excess of 8000MT/s when overclocked. DDR5 motherboards are available with a range of memory configurations, from dual-channel configurations ideal for gaming PCs, to octo-channel layouts perfect for professional workstations. What’s more, DDR5 RAM modules boast Error-Correcting Code built directly into the die, reducing the chance of rogue data causing issues. Better yet, a DDR5 motherboard is more energy efficient, as each module requires just 1.1V to operate compared to the 1.2V needed for DDR4.
There are currently two CPU sockets that offer support for DDR5 memory, Intel LGA 1700 and AMD AM5. Alongside these, Intel is set to release socket LGA 1851 by the end of 2024. Both platforms include features, such as PCIe Gen 5 lanes, USB 20Gbps and Wi-Fi 6E for advanced hardware support and connectivity.
The LGA 1700 socket was first introduced with the 12th Generation Intel CPUs and has continued to be implemented with the 13th and 14th Gen processors. As the name suggests, it utilises a 1700-pin Land Grid Array. The LGA 1700 socket supports memory speeds ranging between 4800MT/s and 8000MT/s. To enable the top speeds, you will need to configure your DDR5 memory using Intel XMP within the BIOS. Intel motherboards that support DDR5 memory will be listed as using a 600 or 700 Series chipset, for example an LGA 1700 B660 motherboard.
AMD introduced DDR5 support with their AM5 platform, launched in 2022 alongside the Ryzen 7000 Series. This socket uses an LGA configuration, a move away from the PGA socket used for the AMD AM4 architecture. Within this socket there are 1718 contacts, allowing for increased connectivity to high-end hardware, such as DDR5 RAM, super-fast NVMe SSDs, and top-tier GPUs. For best results from your memory, you can enable AMD EXPO within the BIOS. The current motherboards you can find that support AM5 include A, B, and X models, which are part of the 600 Series chipset.
Motherboards support the latest RAM standards, such as DDR4 or DDR5. But what exactly is RAM? Discover everything you need to know about your computer's memory on the Overclockers UK blog.
Read MoreHere at Overclockers UK, you can find DDR5 motherboards from brands such as ASRock, MSI, ASUS, and Gigabyte. These include models for both Intel and AMD CPUs.
The memory speeds supported by your motherboard depend on whether you have an AMD or Intel socket. Both brands support RAM speeds starting at 4800MT/s. AMD CPUs operate best around speeds of 6000-6400MT/s, whereas Intel CPUs are capable of remaining stable at speeds more than 7000MT/s.
You cannot use DDR4 memory with a DDR5 motherboard, as DDR4 and DDR5 modules have different physical interfaces.
The number of DIMM slots on your DDR5 motherboard dictates how many RAM modules you can install. This is generally determined by the size of the motherboard. Mini-ITX motherboards usually have just two, standard ATX boards have four, and larger EEB boards feature eight DIMM slots.
