By using two types of cores, these processors can easily handle a wide range of workloads, from complex single-threaded processes such as gaming, to multi-threaded tasks like image rendering.
In addition to this, the Core Ultra CPU utilises the Chiplet technology first seen in the Meteor Lake processors. By moving away from the traditional Monolith chip, Intel can easily improve aspects of their processors in place of designing a completely new one, making them much more versatile. For example, Intel can upgrade the graphical processing of their processors whilst maintaining its current I/O capabilities, by switching out the GPU tile, but retaining the current I/O tile.
Additionally, this makes adding new capabilities to a processor easier, such as incorporating native AI support into CPUs. First seen in Meteor Lake processors, Intel Core Ultra CPUs also include a Neural Processing Unit or NPU. Perfect for processing AI workloads that would’ve traditionally been assigned to your CPU or GPU, for an increase in overall system performance.
