After doing some research decided to go for a widescreen OLED despite concerns about burn in. Was reassured by the OLED care 2.0 functions and have turned all of the available options on just to be sure, as I had a bad experience with an LG OLED TV. I also execute the panel care function after extended game sessions. Overall, the panel looks amazing, especially with HDR turned on and appropriate youtube videos. I have noticed some additional load on the PC due to the additional screen size compared to a 27" 1440 panel, but compensated by reducing the quality a slightly. So far very happy with the product, no regrets and look forward to gaming on it. Highly recommended, especially right now with an additional £50 compared to the price I paid.
Finally bit the bullet and went for this OLED monitor due to the 3 year warranty, fanless design and updateable firmware. After receiving it I easily updated the firmware to the version released today (0.17) which should add some extra functionality in limiting the 4 hour panel protect notifications. The display didn't come with any protective sheet on the monitor which had me a bit worried there might be some micro scratches but upon initial investigation I couldn't spot any. HDR was simple to enable via windows and tune with either True black 400/Peak 1000 nits and the OLED care features all seem to work well. There was a bit of text fringing initially but after playing around with MS ClearType it's barely noticeable. the 21:9 3440x1440 at 175hz is buttery smooth and I can't wait to play around with this monitor some more.
