EK-Quantum Velocity² Direct Die D-RGB - 1700 Core Edition is a water block engineered from scratch specifically for direct die cooling of the Intel® LGA 1700 socket-based CPUs of 12th, 13th, and 14th generation Core architecture. It features improvements that benefit 14th-generation CPUs and shares almost no parts with the previous Intel Direct Die water block released. It requires the removal of the IHS, the process popularly called Delidding. This CPU water block is EK-Matrix7 compliant.
Direct Die Cooling Engine
This water block carries significant differences from the regular EK-Quantum Velocity² and is thus exclusive for direct die cooling. It will not work on CPUs that still have their IHS due to differences in the Z-axis. This new direct die LGA 1700 water block is built from scratch and made to squeeze every bit of performance out of the 14th-generation Intel Core CPUs.
The top is seethrough glass-like acrylic, with rich D-RGB illumination behind the window, which is riddled with aluminum bars going over the top and two G1/4" extenders that interrupt the flow of the black-anodized aluminum bars. These G1/4" extenders are standard Torque micro extenders. They can be replaced by other products from the EK-Quantum Torque Micro series, such as extenders of different finishes, HDP, or HDC fittings.
It includes a purpose-developed cold plate, cooling fin structure, and mounting mechanism. It relies on standoffs positioned at the four corners of the water block to ensure optimal contact with the CPU, eliminating concerns about applying too much or too little pressure on the bare CPU die, just like the EK's AM5 Direct Die water block does.
The cold plate's protruding section is horizontally offset and designed to cover the CPU die area. The fin structure has been adjusted to direct most of the flow over the die and spread out to both sides. This flow optimization was done with a specialized jet plate and its offset slip, as well as a horizontally offset microfin array. This forces the coolant to flow over the hottest parts of the microfins, just above the CPU die area.
A highly compressible foam frame is also added to ensure your liquid metal application doesn't spread to surface-mounted components on the CPU and cause a short on the 12th and 13th-gen Core CPUs. The Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut is included in the package.
The Velocity² series water blocks cover the entirety of the socket while conforming to Intel guidelines about safe zones.
Water Block Material and Manufacturing
The coldplate is manufactured out of the highest grade 99.99%-pure electrolytic copper, machined with precision for the best possible contact and heat transfer which is further nickel-plated. This water block features a nickel-plated coldplate with a CNC-machined cast Acrylic top piece covered with horizontal aluminum bars that have been anodized in black.
EK-Matrix7
The EK-Quantum Velocity² is an EK-Matrix7 compatible product. The EK-Matrix7 is a product raster that is bound to set a new standard. EK is adding a new dimension to PC liquid cooling, where the height of products and the distance between ports are managed by increments of 7mm. This improves product alignment and reduces the time spent planning the loop and bending tubes. Through the meticulous planning of our products, building a liquid-cooled PC becomes easy and fun, just like toy bricks.
EK-Quantum Velocity² Direct Die Mounting
It's screwed in from the back, allowing for seamless and clean front aesthetics without any screws disrupting the harmony of shape. The system uses pre-tensioned springs concealed in the water block top. The mounting pillars can be easily replaced without disassembling the water block in case of any issues.
EK-Quantum Velocity² Direct Die D-RGB LED Lighting
This product is compatible with all popular addressable RGB sync technologies from all major motherboard manufacturers. The arrow marking on the 3-pin D-RGB LED connector is to be aligned with the +5V marking on the D-RGB header. 10 addressable RGB LEDs are hidden under the stick-out piece, which acts as a diffuser.
