Level up your gaming, with the AMD Ryzen 7000 Series. The AMD Ryzen 9 7900X is an upgrade on the fan favourite for gaming, the AMD Ryzen 5900X. With all-new Zen 4 architecture, this processor is unlike any desktop processor in terms of performance. Utilising an innovative 5nm process, the die size has been reduced by 18% whilst IPC uplifts by roughly 13%. This model is the gamer edition, with 12 cores, 24 threads, and SMT technology. Built for AM5 sockets, this processor supports DDR5, PCIe 5.0, and is future-proofed for upcoming advancements. Expect great things from this CPU.

AMD Ryzen™ 9 7900X CPU at a Glance:

  • 5nm CPU with all-new Zen 4 architecture
  • Twelve cores, twenty-four threads, and multithreading technology
  • Maximum 170W TDP
  • Compatible with AM5 socket and existing AM4 CPU coolers
  • Supports DDR5 RAM plus PCIe 5.0 for graphics and storage
  • New memory overclocking software AMD EXPO

The CPU for Gamers

As a high-end CPU from the new AMD Ryzen 7000 Series, the AMD Ryzen 9 7900X delivers on great gaming performance. In fact, AMD promise it’s part of the fastest CPU range for gaming currently on the market (at time of launch). Boasting twelve cores and twenty-four threads, this processor utilises SMT (simultaneous multithreading technology) to optimise performance during gaming workloads. Base frequencies for this processor are 4.7GHz, but this can be boosted up to 5.6GHz with the use of Precision Boost 2 or Precision Boost Overdrive.

Overall, this latest generation of Ryzen processors has an incredible uplift in performance and IPC (instructions per cycle). Intelligently split into L1, L2, and L3 tiers, there is 76MB total cache, to increase the amount of accessible information available. Game with smooth frame rates, stream in high definition, and create content flawlessly. The maximum 170W TDP delivers enthusiast performance, enabling you to get the most out of this processor.

Zen 4

With the new generation of processors comes a new architecture. Evolving the highly performative Zen 3, the AMD Ryzen 9 7900X CPU utilises the innovative Zen 4 architecture. The new front-end design is paired with machine learning, enabling a better focus on core performance. Large frequency fluctuations are avoided thanks to the 256-bit data width, which also speeds up language and image processing.

Constantly innovating, AMD has integrated fourth-generation FinFET technology creating the world’s first 5mn consumer CPU. Overall, the processor is smaller, faster, and with lower power transistors to optimise performance. Whilst the die is 18% smaller, new features have been integrated that not only enable great functionality, but improve the energy efficiency of the processor. At the same power output, there is up to 49% more performance than seen in the previous architecture.

Future-Proofed

A key feature of the AMD Ryzen 9 7900X is how future-proofed the platform has been made. Starting with the new socket, AM5. AMD want this to be the platform that grows with you, supporting upcoming technological advances and industry standards.

For memory, AM5 will support DDR5 RAM modules, with maximum memory speeds up to 5200 MT/s. Additionally, a memory overclocking program has been developed specifically for the AMD Ryzen 7000 Series and DDR5, called AMD EXPO. This will offer optimised, on-click overclocking that can enhance 1080p gaming by 11% and reduce latency by up to 63ns.

The other future-proof feature is PCIe support. The AMD Ryzen 9 7900X is equipped with PCIe 5.0, for both graphics cards and storage. Enjoy ultra-fast connectivity on all your PCIe devices.

Integrated Graphics

The AMD Ryzen 9 7900X CPU has integrated Radeon RDNA 2 graphics, built on an all-new I/O die in 6nm with advanced low-power Navi 2 architecture. This die operates with better efficiency than previous models, thanks to a low power draw when idle or under medium loads.

AM5

To operate an AMD Ryzen 7900X CPU, a motherboard equipped with an AM5 1718 LGA socket is essential. The compatible chipsets are:

To optimise compatibility, AMD Ryzen 7000 Series CPUs can be equipped with either an AM4 AIO or air CPU coolers or AM5 AIO or air CPU coolers. No cooler is included within the scope of delivery.

AMD Ryzen 9 7900X FAQ

Is the AMD Ryzen 9 7900X CPU Good for Gaming?
