The
ASUS STRIX X470-F Gaming is equipped with AMD's X470 chipset and optimised for use with Ryzen 2000- series "Pinnacle Ridge" CPUs. This high-end chipset supports up to 64 GB RAM at a guaranteed clock frequency of 2.933 Megahertz, clock frequencies that are markedly higher when paired with OC RAM kits. Additionally, the X470 chipset is compatible with all of the latest 2nd generation features of Ryzen processors features as well as benefiting from a variety of optimisations like the new XFR2 overclocking technology.

The Features of the ASUS STRIX X470-F Gaming in Detail:
The
ASUS STRIX X470-F Gaming is an ATX format motherboard and offers one fast
PCI-Express 3.0 slot with a full x16 speed connection along with an additional PCI Express 3.0 x8 slot. The four RAM banks can hold up to 64 GB DDR4-RAM at a clock frequency of up to 2.933 Megahertz and even frequencies
up to 3.466 MHz with overclocking.
This Socket AM4 motherboard comes complete with
two PCIe M.2 slots. Four PCI-Express 3.0 lanes connect the M.2 SSDs and they use the advanced NVM Express protocol (NVMe) in order to support data transfer rates of up to 32 Gbit/s, speeds that are up to eight times faster than that of SATA 6G hard drives. The second M.2 slot is connected using PCIe 3.0 x2, sharing the bandwidth with the first and second PCIe x1 slot and therefore only offers regular SATA6G speeds.
The I/O panel of the
ASUS STRIX X470-F Gaming features a
USB 3.0 connection with a Type C port. This new type of USB port is incredibly thin and allows devices to be inserted in either orientation. Additionally the board comes with two USB 3.1 ports. USB 3.1 aka USB 3.1 Gen 2 can achieve maximum speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s per port. USB ports utilising this standard support functions like quick charging for smartphones and tablets.
One of the special STRIX-specific features that ASUS has provided include, for example, onboard Status- and Debug LEDs, even RGB lighting. For RGB control and automatic synchronisation with other RGB components via Aura Sync, the
ASUS STRIX X470-F Gaming also offers a
digitally addressable header along with two headers for static RGB-LEDs. In terms of display outputs, the board provides HDMI- and DisplayPort connectors.
